Thanks the reply, @Janknitz.
I bought my machine on Craigslist, and also buy supplies on ebay, suppliers listed here, etc. So I'll continue to do that. Bummer about Kaiser, but not surprising.

Kaiser Permanente coverage: advice please
More than 10 years ago I was diagnosed with mild to moderate OSA. I'm currently using a CPAP nightly. I switched from a different health insurance provider to Kaiser Permanente (Silver HMO) a bit over a year ago. I asked if they covered CPAP supplies, and they said they didn't. I'm going to follow u...

Re: How to prevent face redness from mask?
Sorry...but I have never needed or used a mask liner so I can't really vouch for any certain one but in general padacheek.com makes some quality products. I have used her strap covers and barrel cozies and hose cozies in the past. https://www.padacheek.com/ That's where I get my strap pads, didn't ...

How to prevent face redness from mask?
I used to have an issue with strap marks on my face in the mornings, which I solved with strap covers. But now I have redness all day on my face in the area where the mask cushion is in contact.
Any ideas on how to avoid that?

Re: Redness on face from mask
Thanks for the replies, I'll check out the mask liner, I wasn't aware of that.
Regarding nasal pillow mask, I used to use one, but it resulted in my mouth getting incredibly dry; I've had much better luck with full face mask.

Redness on face from mask
I solved my problem of strap marks on my face by using covers (from Pad A Cheek), but currently have an issue of redness on my face where my Mirage FX mask meets the skin.
Any suggestions on avoiding this redness? I have the straps as loose as possible without leaking.

Re: Respiratory Rate wrong while abnormal breathing?
I'm also getting very high respiratory rates every night, often going well above 40. Screenshots below.
Anyone think that these resp. rates are for sure false readings, or possibly an indication of some kind of respiratory health issue?

That Apnealink device looks like it would do the trick, I'll try to test with that, thanks.

Re: How therapeutic is 4cm/min. cpap pressure?
here are home studied available for $300-$500 Any specific ones you'd recommend? 4 cm barely brings enough air for me to breathe. I doubt I could even sleep. Go for the home study. 4 cm is comfortable for me, and with the MAD I'm getting under 5 AHI. But I would like to try a home study if I can fi...

How therapeutic is 4cm/min. cpap pressure?
I'm using my APAP at minimum (4cm) pressure to get a rough idea of how well my oral appliance (MAD) is working, and to find best adjustment setting for MAD. (My insurance won't cover a sleep study for MAD). I'm guessing 4cm pressure could very well be helping with the OSA, right (ie, it's not so low...

Re: Full mask vs nasal mask: different AHI numbers?
Sometimes people need to use a little more pressure when using a full face mask than when using a nasal mask. Not so much because it isn't as effective but because sometimes that lower strap on the full face masks alter the airway position a little and make it harder to keep the airway open. If eve...

Full mask vs nasal mask: different AHI numbers?
I was using a nasal mask for a long time, and recently switched to full mask (due to extremely dry mouth). Seems like my AHI numbers are a bit higher. Is is possible that a full mask could be less effective than nasal mask in treating the OSA (assuming there aren't more leaks, etc)? I need to gather...

Re: Pulse oximeters: most accurate home model?
I have a cheap finger device I got on Amazon, Contec model, and have checked it several times against pro machines at Doctors offices, and it has always been within 2 points of those machines. Ah, good to know. One of the Contec wrist models, with separate finger sensor? The key point is to check y...

Pulse oximeters: most accurate home model?
I found this 2016 study: The Accuracy of 6 Inexpensive Pulse Oximeters Not Cleared by the Food and Drug Administration , which says: CONCLUSIONS: Many low-cost pulse oximeters sold to consumers demonstrate highly inaccurate readings. Unexpectedly, the accuracy of some low-cost pulse oximeters tested...
