Need to buy ResMed Air Curve 10 vAuto-No Ins or Current Prescription!

Post by Vdaniels » Wed Mar 04, 2020 9:11 am

Hi, I’m new here, lots of great info! So I’ve been using BiPAP for about six years for severe/moderate sleep apnea. My ResMed system one machine has gotten very noisy and squeaky, so I want to buy the above machine, but I don’t have insurance or a current script. What are your thoughts on purchasing a refurbished one say from “No Insurance Medical Supplies”, Or from a private party or suggestions on where to buy it new? Thank you in advance for all your help!

Secondwindcpap.com is the supplier of lightly used or open box models recommended here.
Many have used them; and attest to their integrity.
I cannot vouch for the company you mention, as I have never heard of them.

I bought lightly used vauto.

People sell them here as well, for example LSAT.

TL-DR;
Bought a low-hours AirCurve 10 VAuto from LSAT here on CPAPTALK.
Avoided a doctor visit, a new sleep study, and, it cost me exactly the same
as my BCBS insurance deductable on a new machine.

My ResMed Air Curve 10 VAuto began making loud noises after 4+ years of trouble-free service.
The DME I bought it rom had stopped carrying ResMed for some reason and had no suitable machines to rent.

The sleep doctor, whom I have never met, insisted upon an office visit before making a script available. That's not unreasonable, however, he had a three-month wait for an appointment; it was clear my machine would not last that long.

The huge UT Southwestern Medical Center where all my non-sleep medical needs are met also required a sleep study, had a months-long wait list. And their sleep study cost two thousand dollars ( $2,000.00 ) AFTER BCBS INSURANCE COVERAGE :-0

After research my solution to the requirement for a prescription was to order an in-home sleep study from an online vendor. Cost was about $200.00 and a 3-4 day turnaround for them to send a machine, complete the DIY overnight study, return the machine and transmit the prescription.

In the end I contacted LSAT here on CPAPTalk who sourced a very, very low-hour 10 VAuto. It was essentially new. I've used it now for over a year, and it works perfectly. Buying from LSAT eliminated the need for a doctor visit and a new sleep study.

I was extremely pleased with the transaction with LSAT. He communicates promptly and clearly then does exactly what he says he'll do. I would happily buy a low-hour used machine from him again.

As stated previously, members often sell machines here on the forum. You can also find them on Craig's List or Facebook Market Place. I found a very lightly used machine (less than 110 hours) on Market Place for around $225. Deals are out there, you just have to look for them.

Nice.

I picked up my AirCurve 10 VAuto on Kijiji (popular in Canada) for $450 (about 325 USD). 92 hours.

I bought my Airsense from LSAT the end of February, and couldn't be happier.
