should I raise the max cmH2O?
Hello,
I have been on CPAP for last 7 years. Recently I started playing with settings - original ones were 8 cmH20 - 12 cmH20.
I was always using Dreamwear full face mask because my lips would open and air was escaping. Two weeks ago I switched to Dreamwear nasal cushion - surprisingly with a tape and training my tongue, I am not being awaken by escaping air and my mouth stay closed... all of that is working so far, but there is one thing I did before starting the nasal cushion... I lowered the numbers from 8-12 to 7-11, and yesterday 7-10 cmH20.
My Resmed report from last night came back at 100%. But, now I worry if I am hitting the max numbers and if it needs to be adjusted back to a higher level?
The reason, I am trying stay at the most possible lower MAX number...to avoid bloating in my stomach and chipmunk cheeks (has happened in past when I originally started the theraphy).
Please, let me know if I need to post more data on here for better view.
Thank you.

Yeah, the storage space for attachments on the forum is full and nobody can figure it out. You have to put the images somewhere like Imgur.com, get a link to them, and use that to display here.
As far as your numbers, the gurus here will definitely want to see your results in OSCAR or SleepHQ to provide advice. Check out the first post on the forum to see about OSCAR.

You barely kiss the max of 10 and when you do you don't stay up there long at all.
If you are sleeping good and restricting the max solves the aerophagia/belly issues then I think it is certainly an acceptable compromise and I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: should I raise the max cmH2O?
Thank you.. will definitely check for the next several days if there are any changes, but so far so good... one more question... if my lips start flapping again (no tape to keep them closed).. would the report show that as a leak or extended spike in pressure?
Years ago it used to woke me up - that was when my septum was all messed up and I guess I was breathing a lot thru my mouth during night... However, last year I had septoplasty and that changed my life quality entirely for so much better. I actually sleep in the same position for hours till my body hurts lol. Before, I would toss around every hour because my sinuses would closed up all the time.

It would show as a leak line increase.cub4bearin wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 11:00 amone more question... if my lips start flapping again (no tape to keep them closed).. would the report show that as a leak or extended spike in pressure?
These machines do NOT increase the pressure as a means to try to compensate for leaks no matter what the cause.
Increases in pressure on the auto adjusting model machines only happen when the machine thinks it is fighting some sort of airway collapse situation.
