Sorry, I was lead astray when the OP asked about it. I jumped to the conclusion that it had wifi.

I am the engineer type and question everything and take nothing at face value since a lot of people just repeat what someone else said or made up without verifying that it is true

Tisk Tisk, pointing out other peoples failures has a way of coming back to bite you... and with teeth like yours that could hurt.

And I never said I couldn't jump to conclusions in error

In case no one has posted this. I would recommend using an in-line filter with your BI-PAP/CPAP machine. It's what my doctors recommended until my recalled machine came in. I continue to use them with the new replacementhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M6S9YHJ/re ... F0aWM&th=1

A filter is intended to be used at the machine end of the hose and would likely be obtrusive if used at the mask end. Using one at the machine end also means a heated hose can not be used. I presume you are not using a heated hose(?)

No I use a heated hose. You do not have to use the filter at machine end.It just needs to be used between the machine & the mask

Thank you again to everyone for your replies, advice and support throughout this thread, my mother and I appreciate it greatly!

Good news, her new ResMed machine has arrived and a member of the hospital respiratory team has taken a look at it for us and assisted us with setting it up.

She spent her first night on the new machine last night, she found it comfortable and didn't notice any difference in it's function throughout the night from the Philips machine, so that is good :)

The respiratory team lowered her pressure settings a little bit to see how she goes with a little lower pressures (from 22/10 down to 18/8, IPAP/EPAP), so we will see how that goes and at her upcoming respiratory doctor appointment he can decide what to do from there in regards to the settings.

I checked her oxygen level with a finger pulse oximeter last night about 1.5hrs after she fell asleep and it was down to 82% which alarmed me, she woke up and wanted me to re-test it again straight away and it was 95%... Due to the huge disparity between the numbers I waited 5 minutes and tested it again and it was 92%, so hoping that the first reading was a mis-test somehow.

I tested it again a few hours later and it was 90%, then again when she woke up in the morning and it was 91%.

Due to her COPD and hypercapnia she is on a target oxygen saturation range of 88-92% so these seem good, aside from the one off 82% reading!

For comparison, she used to give readings during the night of between 92% and 96% when on the previous Philips machine on the slightly higher pressures.

I will monitor it again occasionally over the next couple of nights just to keep an eye on it but then just leave it in the hands of the doctors, nobody wants to be woken up constantly, perhaps the doctor will get her to wear a pulse oximeter to sleep for a while to see how it goes.

Thank you again everyone, this forum is a wonderful resource :)

I was able to slip the pulseox on my mother's finger without her waking up at night. The problem with those is you can get a false reading if the hand is cold, if the circulation is poor or if mom is laying on the arm. If you get an abnormal readings best thing is just to switchfingers or hands

Thank you again robbob2112 :).

Just a quick question if anybody can help, this is a picture of my mother's screen whilst the machine is running, does anybody know what the "PS 10" means on the display? Her pressures are currently set at 18 IPAP and 8 EPAP but I am unsure what the PS10 means (picture below).

Thanks all :)

PS stands for Pressure Support.
Her Exhale Positive Air Pressure is 8. Her PS, the additional pressure she needs to make sure she inhales properly is 10. EPAP + PS is IPAP.

Pressure support. That means the pressure doesn't dip below it when keeping the airway open.

Ah I understand now, so when breathing out the pressure is 8 and when she inhales it adds the pressure support (PS) being 10 to give the total IPAP of 18.

Another day on this forum, another thing learned! Thank you all :)
