Re: Very sore neck! - Rebumped because of new issue!

I would suggest make the appointment and talk to your doctor if you can't achieve some relief. Try to correlate time you started using this mask with when the symptoms started. Did they come together? Have you tried loosening the strap that goes around the base of the skull just a bit? I cannot tole...

Re: Question on Pressure - Updated Info.

Now that I am plastered, I'll share a loose thought: that newcomers, who have read this far, can probably help draft a more suitable statement or two---than long-timers like me who have focused too long on all the details. Newcomer here but I am afraid that composition is not a strong point of mine...

Re: Very sore neck!

I have documented degenerative disc disease in the cervical spine. The lower strap of the head gear for a nasal mask created such a bind on my neck that it gave me a headache also. It wasn't too awfully tight and it only took about 45 minutes into the titration study for it to hit. Between that and ...

Re: First night of home tx, mask leak question

Okay, I reset therapy data to zero so that I could get daily stats instead of 7 day average. This morning I get 6.5 hours of therapy showing but my AHI and leak rates are showing zero. Now, I know I am doing well but I won't kid myself that I am doing that well. What did I do wrong? Any ideas anyone...

Re: new to cpap therapy

When we feel good the day after the titration study and not as wonderful at home, we need to remember that we are on our own. During the titration study we had someone continually tweaking things to try to optimize results. Plus the tech has the advantage of seeing immediately what one little change...

Re: First night of home tx, mask leak question

I found how to reset the 7/30 day averages in an old post. Copied from that post. Note I never did see it go to zero the first time I tried but when I went back to try again (thinking I may have done something wrong) I saw that the numbers were at zero. Posting these instructions again here just in ...

Re: First night of home tx, mask leak question

Welcome to cpaptalk.com. The leak rate for that mask at 10cm pressure is about 23.1, so your leak is too high or you are breathing through your mouth! Look here: http://sleepapnea.respironics.com/PDF/LeakRate.pdf You have a good machine, but you need to buy the software to see your daily ahi or you...

First night of home tx, mask leak question

I got my machine yesterday and my first night of home treatment last night. Went surprisingly well I think despite only getting 4 1/2 hours on the machine. My fault for that. I woke up to go to bathroom and felt great. I thought it was time to get up. It was still dark outside but that is not unusua...

Re: so very tired and it isn't getting better

Hi Mar, Just wanted to say Hi from one horse lover to another. Somewhere in your posts I saw that you did Endurance competition. I used to do only the Limited Distance. There just weren't enough drugs available for me to get my arthritis to let me do more but I really wanted to try. Sometime if you ...

Count me in also. You all just have way too much fun and I have to be a part of it. Makes this sleep apnea thing a little less stressful for me.

Re: noob questions

I know the ahi should be below 5.0, but 8.2 does not appear to be that bad??? the AI...(does that mean I averaged 2.9 apena events per hour even using cpap?) yes, that is what the AI means AI... apnea events, stopped breathing. HI.... I think of it as a baby AI that doesn't grow up to a full apnea ...

Re: Chronic sinus sufferers - a link to a disturbing diagnosis

Many years ago while working at a medical clinic and fighting sinus infections that kept returning and not being the most compliant patient, I rather flippantly said something along the lines " well, yeah, but you can't die from a sinus infection" The doctor that I was working with rather vividly ex...
