Got my F40 yesterday (03/21/24) from CPAP supplies. Wore the F40 mask last night for the first time. More comfortable than my F30 and kept a great seal all night. My AHI stays around 2.0 avg but this morning it was .50 AHI. Lowest it's ever been in 5 years. I did change the mask setting to 'Pillows' as suggested by ResMed manual.

Using the standard headgear and medium cushion. So far so good, the mask allowed me to sleep on my side more comfortably than the F30.

Hello everyone :) Really appreciate the information and opinions on the F40, it's a bit difficult to tell the difference from the F30 from the manufacturer photos. Special cheers to user jgmrequel for the in depth photos, incredibly helpful side by side comparison!
I note particularly the nostril openings are differently shaped and placed. I've experienced no soreness with the F30, but have concluded long since my nostrils were incorrectly installed for both available sizes. Still has been the best fit/results of the masks I've tried as a dedicated side sleeper. Maybe this one will allow me to breath thru my nose occasionally? I just replaced my masks, but I'll be hoping to see reports from people as to how well they feel the different cushion design holds up as better mask fit overall since it might = less getting shook awake with a growled "you're LEAKING" :( But seriously, he does it because he knows that means my therapy won't work as well, I'd like his sleep interrupted less frequently as well as good seal meaning better results.

Hi,

Can you tell me how the F30 and F40 medium compare with regard to the squeeze on the sides of the nose?

When I wear the F30 med it fits well in all respects except for it squeezing the sides of my nose. I wake in the AM with my nose hurting at the widest spots.

F40 looks interesting for those of us that are side sleepers and need a full face mask.

But, yikes, the Resmed recommended replacement rate is every two weeks for the cushions ($54 each)! Major suppliers are suggesting replacement once per month. In contrast, I replace my Quattro cushions once every 6 months, (clean them daily) at $35 per cushion.

Resmed is recommending that users replace the mask every three months ($124/each). In contrast, my quattro masks are replaced once every two years and are still working fine at that time point.

Huge sticker shock for me!

Since when did you decide to follow the "cash cow replacement schedule".....ResMed recommends that replacement schedule for all their masks. That's nothing new for just this new mask.

Pugsy, I'm a dairy guy, I work with and know cows! :D retired now

Yeah, I know most/all will not follow Resmed guidelines. I received good long term information from other cpap users on how long I could go with mirage quattro mask and cushions. Being a retiree, I'm looking forward to reading practical replacement rates from fellow users on the F40!

Let's not lose site of the fact that it's "strange" (not to me) that all the mask, etc manufacturers all seem to "recommend" replacement of items right along with what/when most insurance will pay for the item. Hmmmm....that doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the most likely reason why.
Insurance companies, doctors and DMEs are who really the manufacturers consider as their "customers".
It sure as hell isn't us the end user.

The mask makers just prayed for a good reason to say to replace equipment more often and the insurance companies gave it to them.

The only product that has a maybe legit reason for more frequent replacement is the AirTouch memory foam cushion in their masks but that's just the cushion part. The other parts of the AirTouch mask will last for months and months and months with common sense care.
Also...even the AirTouch cushion foam life can be prolonged somewhat by common sense care which includes keeping it away from water and air which we know will shorten the memory foam life.
Something mask manufacturers don't really want us users to know because it cuts into the profit of their "customers" the DMEs.

I don't normally go in for conspiracy theories but this one I believe in. Mask makers want to sell more masks (and other stuff) and so do the DMEs so guess what happens???

Actually I had good lucky washing the airtouch cushion along with the rest. But I rotated cushions so the washed one had pleanty of time to dry out before use. Washed monthly and I had 3 in rotation. Wiped daily. When washing do NOT squeeze the foam.
