They claim no. It's just another resistor in the breathing circuit. Different masks have different pressure drop values (they are resistors as well) so I wouldn't worry about it.

I use sleep strips x-tape. Works great for me. https://www.amazon.com/Transparent-Sleeping-Restores-Breathing-Improve/dp/B0CJ86GT76/ref=sr_1_26 When removing them, don't pull them off. I wonder if the OP is using an over the nose cushion type mask. I have found that even the mildest pressure over the nose causes contriction of the passages in the nose.
