Eclipse Bleep

Post by dorsy28 » Sat Apr 27, 2024 7:43 pm

Does anyone have much experience with the Eclipse Bleep? I currently use the Resmed N30i and it works really well for me, but I've noticed some broken hair at the top of my head, and want to try something with less gear. Thoughts?

I have been using the Eclipse for over 2 years now. Was part of the original Beta Testers for it.

So I got tons of experience. Do you have specific questions that I might be able to answer?

Have you watched the videos?

I've been having great success with the Bleep Eclipse. Not able to list it with my equipment in my profile. Not one of the choices I can find listed.

I was not able to tolerate it... my nostrils are angled, the frame sits best with flat nostrils it seems... also, there's the fact I hate anything touching my nostrils.

There is a significant ongoing expense... about a dollar a day for the bleeps. Be prepared to waste a few getting the tape job right. The witch hazel or IPA cleaning of the skin is mandatory IMO.

Well....it is covered by insurance (same co pay as for nasal cushions or nasal pillows replacements) for those with insurance and those without insurance there are ways to bring that dollar a day cost down quite a bit.

Besides...how much is it worth to a person to sleep without any mask issues or dents in the face or messing up our hair?????

All masks have pros and cons and the very thing that might be a "con" for you is a "pro" for me.

To anyone considering either the Eclipse or the original version with the DreamPorts.....this mask is covered by insurance.
Even Medicare will pay for the frame and/or the replacement ports/Halos (Eclipse). It uses the same HCPCS billing codes as the under the nose cushion masks (like the N30 or P10) for the frame and replacement parts.

One box of the Halos/DreamPort adhesives is 2 weeks worth and the same code as for a replacement cushion (Medicare allows 2 replacement cushions a month)...so 2 boxes is the same as 2 replacement cushions or pillows and insurance will pay so don't let your equipment suppliers tell you that insurance won't pay. Insurance will pay...even Medicare and most insurance companies adopt the same replacement schedule as Medicare allows.
We have forum members who have Medicare or private insurance that are getting the Eclipse (or the original DreamPort mask) and their insurance is indeed paying the insurance part of the costs and the member ends up paying only the co pay left over after insurance pays. In most cases the 20 % of the allowed amount.

If someone doesn't have any insurance there are ways to buy in bulk and get the cost of the mask and its replacements (which is the most expensive on going expense) down to a manageable level.

Thanks! Mostly how easy it is to use the adhesives, do they stay on all night, are they comfortable (although if you've been using it for two years I'm thinking yes). I have really good insurance but I don't replace my cushions every week so I save money there; I think I'd probably spend a little more with the need for a new patch every night.

I've requested a mask fitting (just waiting for that - my DME is terribly slow) so I can get a starter pack. They usually provide one for free.

Skin prep prior to applying the adhesives is going to be critical but if you do it right the adhesive won't come loose.
As far as comfort...Once I apply the Halos they disappear and I don't notice them at all.
Feels no different than having a bandaid on the end of your nose and we tend to not notice bandaids.

My routine....I trim the Halos ahead of time and don't do that right at bedtime.
Then I do the face washing and skin prep before I get ready for bed.
Then I apply the Halos and it takes me all of about 3 seconds now (but when I first started using the Bleep/Eclipse it did take longer but with experience I got a lot faster).
Trimming is necessary because if you don't then part of the adhesive will end up covering the metal ring and that stops the magnet from holding. The Eclipse box comes with these directions....so be sure to read the instructions.

Pugs, if you've got an in with Bleep, pitch having the Halos made as a single unit instead of two separate ones, sized for different widths... that overlapping/trimming stuff is maddening. Start with a fit kit, several different widths... once you've found your width just center it on your septum. Perhaps they played with this during development, it does seem obvious.

Sorry but I don't have that big of an "in" with the folks at the Bleep/Halo makers.
They are operating on a shoe string budget I am sure.
Not to mention that every little teeny tiny change in anything involves the FDA and tons of paperwork.

I've been on APAP since 2006 and I have never had results, that come even close, to the low leak rate I experience with the Bleep Eclipse. And I've tried most every mask during the past almost twenty-years.
