Looking for a new, viable option for treatment of apnea.

After working with a sleep lab in the geography where I live and work (Canada), the sleep medicine doctor (a few months ago) had his specialty license revoked permanently in the area of sleep medicine, his medical license suspended for a period of time, and will only be allowed to practice within hi...

Re: Unable to tolerate nasal mask, oral mask equally difficult.

Great feedback, thank you all. I have been to a new ENT just last month, who thought I needed a new sleep study and referral to a voice lab related to VCD, as well as to a gastroenterology specialist for a check on my GERD status. He also suggested investigating a dental appliance in lieu of CPAP/AP...

Re: Unable to tolerate nasal mask, oral mask equally difficult.

The sinus stuff hasn't changed much, still a lot of congestion which when using a nasal mask gets worse such that I pull the mask off while I am asleep.

Re: Unable to tolerate nasal mask, oral mask equally difficult.

No objection to a full face mask other than I tried one a few years ago and I couldn't get it to fit properly, leaked a lot. But maybe time to try again. I'm traveling right now so no way to even get one until I'm back home. Any suggestions for a specific model would be appreciated.

Unable to tolerate nasal mask, oral mask equally difficult.

Looking for help and suggestions on how to make my new Oracle 452 mask tolerable. My throat becomes very dried out within 10 minutes of use, despite running my Icon APAP with humidity set at 7. I have been trying nasal masks over the last 10 years with Intermittent success, and bought this a few day...

BiPAP Auto--stay auto or go fixed with 90% numbers?

I've been moving back and forth between my Respironics BiPAP Auto, in auto mode and running it in fixed mode using the 90% numbers. I seem to get lower AHI in auto mode. Is there a preference (or concern) to go one way or the other?
Peace.

Return to DME

I'm working on that angle as well, but wanted to see if anyone else had experienced a similar problem.

It does seem to be an out-of-box defect. I wonder if there is some way to find out if the machine was refurbished.

Peculiar Respironics M Auto BiPAP Behavior

I've had my Auto BiPAP for over a month now, and it continues to exhibit an annoying behavior very consistently. I've been very sure to minimize leaks as I know that is a potential problem. In a nutshell, here is the problem. 1. The machine starts up normally and will run for 2 to 3 minutes with nor...

Sinus surgery.

I've had 5 sinus procedures, so don't know if this is your first or further down the road. If you've had them, you know you won't be breathing out of your nose for a few days most likely. However, I had severe sinus disease and was living on antibiotics and prednisone and the surgery made a huge imp...

Maybe barotrauma?

Have you had any barotrauma lately? Like flying on multiple flights or something like that? I have big problems with tinnitus when I fly a couple of long flights and it takes a few days to resolve. Very, very annoying, but I am fortunate that it goes away.

EPAP or IPAP, I say look at compliance and nightly SDB.

Since I'm on my second swing at the bat with CPAP/BiPAP, I cannot help but comment that if a patient is not compliant, it doesn't matter what method of airway splinting they are prescribed---because they aren't using it. I feel, and have no EEG data to back it up, that when I am breathing out agains...

Auto BiPAPs

RestedGal, In particular, thanks for your help. I am moving in a direction now that I am getting predictable results---that initially seemed contradictory but now are making sense. I must have one of those strange set of internal sensors that don't like high EPAP pressure. It is amazing to me how mu...

CPAP and email

I have personally shot myself in the foot a few times with my spam filter, trapping email from folks and never realizing what I had done. Perhaps CPAP.com has a similar issue---you may be trapped for some unknown reason in their spam filter and they have never seen your email. I would kindly suggest...

And almost no aerophagia now with BiPAP.
