glad to find cpap talk

Post by sharonokc » Thu Oct 28, 2004 12:44 pm

Hi, just found this forum . I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in 1983 and have been on cpap ever since. It helps enormously to be able to think clearly. My machine (2nd) (remstar) is aging and I am looking for a new one, and want to know all the bells and whistles out there in the new machines. I would like recommendations on what machines users like and loathe. thanks!

Greetings Sharon,

With as much experience with sleep apnea, you are an old pro at this.

Right now, one of the most popular and best machines is the Remstar line with Cflex, by Respironics.

Cflex is a feature that allows a patient to set the level of pressure releif on exhalation. This helps make the expierience more comfortable.

Anyone else have a favorite machine to share?

In some ways I may be a pro, but I bought my last machine in 1991, and really have not done much research since. Hopefully there have been new innovations.
What do people like and dislike?

I would like an easier filter to change.
I found that I never use the ramp feature, in fact I feel like I am suffocating when I try to use this feature.
I like the remote, but often loose it.

What functions do other users like/dislike?

cpap and sleep apnea forum

Hi Sharon...wow, you'll have a lot of stories to share.

I'll bet that if you'll post your same message you'll get a ton of replies.

Just click the the words "cpaptalk.com Forum Index" and then click "cpap and sleep apnea forum". Lots of people there would love to hear your experience with a sleep study back in the '80's and much more about things like the first machine you had, mask, etc. Hope you'll post in that forum so more can see it. A lot of them probably don't check the "Introductions" as much as they check the sleep apnea forum.

Welcome!!
