Aerophagia....back pain?

Post by sleepyWI » Tue May 01, 2007 5:50 am

Hi all, lately I have been waking up with a vague stomach ache and feeling a little bloated. Probably aerophagia I know and the stomach pain is not bad. The problem is that I also wake up with a severe "stich" in the lower right quadrant of my back. Do any of you experience erophagia as referred back pain? Maybe I'm just sleeping funny too but both problems appeared at the same time. Comments?

Yeah, I get that when I'm swallowing air. I know just what you're talking about. Jenny

Here is one explanation I've heard-can't say it is accurate-but it sounds good to me. The air in the stomach is up near the diaphram and can be felt as pain. Pain from the upper abdominal organ like the gall bladder/stomach/heart can get referred to different place that are not directly over the involved organ.
