OPAP?

Post by Babette » Thu May 03, 2007 11:13 am

So, what's the deal with OPAP? Did it just not pan out? I seem to find alot of OLD webpages, not alot of new information.

Being a drooly mouth-breather, I'm intrigued.

I've also just heard from three coworkers who had throat surgery and loved it.... I had no idea I COULD get my Uvula removed. Boy I want that!!! I've been whimpering to myself about that for years. If I could just get that stupid thing out of my throat I could BREATHE and quit coughing all night!!!

Cheers,
B.

I assume you mean Oral CPAP? Check out the Oracle mask.

I'd be a little more leery of surgery. You might start with the info in our lightbulb:

No, it's OPAP. Similar to Oracle, but different.

Looks like the mouth piece from the CPAP Pro, but no nasal interface. It's all oral, no headgear. Very expensive, and a specially trained dentist has to fit you. Sounds like a great money-making venture...

Yeah, I'm not rushing into surgery. Thanks for the links for more research!!!

I've never heard of that--interesting concept.

I know you'd research the surgery a lot before doing it, but I just wanted to mention this. I went to a dentist specializing in oral appliances for OSA (like TAP, for instance). Just wanted to see what he would say. In addition to saying I should stick with CPAP (because I'm tolerating it okay), he said he would never recommend surgery because it is extremely painful and a lot of times doesn't really work.

Thank you! Input is welcome, else I wouldn't be here asking questions!

Two weeks of cpap isn't enough for me to judge anything yet. I was just getting used to my mask when I got my new smaller pillows, did that last night, and I'm miserable today. Teach me to switch....

Cheers,
B.
