Mirage Vista Mask

Hi Everyone,

I am still working on finding a good mask.

I started with the prescribed Profile Lite. It sucked. It leaked a lot and the only way to stop the leaks was to have it really tight.

Then I tried the new SNAPP. It didn't work for me either. I don't use any humidifier so air blowing straight in the nose seemed to dry me out more than a mask. Also I ended up sore nares despite using lubricant.

Next I got the new Respironics Comfort Lite - the one with the hard plastic headgear that looks like a football helmet. The hard plastic moves when you shift around. It comes with pillows and also a mini mask that just covers half the nose. I must say I like the mini mask but the headgear is not great,

Since so many people love Activa I am thinking about it but really I want to try to find something that will work without covering so much face and obscuring vision.

So after all this explanation, has anyone tried the Mirage Vista. I like the look of the headgear. It seems secure. And the mask only covers part of the nose.

I would love to hear from anyone who has tried it.

Paul, like you, I thought the Vista looked like just the ticket for reading and unobstructed vision. Appeared comfy looking in the picture. I bought one. It kept springing little leaks up around my eyes. I really had hopes for being able to get the Vista adjusted to suit me, but the leaks won out and I finally gave it away.

A mask I've just started using the past three days that doesn't obscure vision is the Swift by ResMed. As nasal "pillows" devices go, this one feels nice and cushy. I know you said that you got sore nares using the Snapp...I've never tried the Snapp, but having tried 4 nasal interfaces (Breeze, Swift, Nasal Aire II and Lyra) there is quite a difference in the "feel" of different nasal designs and how some of them push, pull or leak. One of the handiest things about the Swift is that it comes with all three sizes of cushion. The Breeze is still my favorite nasal pillow interface, with the Swift a very close second. I find the Breeze to be quieter than the Swift. However, if I wanted to do either of these things - read, or sleep on my back (fine for side sleeping too) - the Swift would easily be my #1 choice.

Activa is my favorite in "covers the nose" regular nasal masks. Besides being a great primary mask, it's nice to switch off to, when I feel like a change from nasal pillows.

The vista sounds interesting. I would love to be able to wear my glasses with my mask to watch tv.

Has the size of the mask been checked? Also I know the Mirage comes in depths. (I wear a shallow). This has leaked the least of my masks.

Thanks for the replies. I am cautious now about ordering masks. My insurance will only pay for them biannually. I paid $99 myself for the SNAPP and after 4 days I knew it wouldn't work for me.

I am trying to persevere with my new Comfort Lite with the min-mask rather than the pillows but I suspect I will end up forking out for something else soon.
