I assume you have already registered. If so, then you need to login via the login page; there is a link to it in the upper right corner under the "Chatting Live" thing. If you try to post without being logged in, it will not let you give a name in the "name" field that has already been registered. Either pick an unregistered name, or leave it blank. To prevent this, log in first before posting.

Just an introduction. First time here. I seem to have stumbled into a British site, but glad to have found you guys, happy to be here.

Hello, I'm in the US in metro Atlanta, GA. I'm new to the CPAP. Did better than expected with the one that covers just the nose the first week, but I don't like a lot of air conditioning and switched to the smaller nasal piece with pillows, the Resmed Swift LT. Worst night of my life. Maybe I just didn't get it on right, but the holes kept shifting and I thought I was dying. I finally gave up at 5:30am and took it off. I really want the smaller one to work, any suggestions. It came with three different sizes for nostrils; I'm thinking I'll try a different one tonight. I have a lot of reading to do.

Actually we are US base site but have members here from all over the world.
If you will create a new topic about your problem on the main part of the forum more people will see it and offer ideas.

Hello
I was diagnosed with sleep apnea a few months ago. My index number was 97. Apparently this put me in the sever category. I also suffer from depression. About 6 weeks ago I got my CPAP machine. I really strugeled getting my time up due to a number of factors. First I had air blowing out through my closed lips. I swiched to a full face mask but just couldn't get a good fit. As of late I returned to a nasel mask and a gag. An imperfect solution but it works. I have just recently got my time to 8 hours. My depression had disappeared! I went through every med known for depression, had 18 sessions of Electro Shock Therapy and been hospitalized 3 times for suicidal depression. I cant tell you just how much this machine has improved my life. No improved but enabled me to live again.

Hi

I am new here, found the site by doing a search. I almost died a year ago due to a lung ailment. (Cryogentic Organzing Pneumonia). My doctor in the hospital was excellent. He also runs the sleep clinic in the city I live (London, Ontario). After we got my lungs fixed, he and my wife decided I should be tested for sleep apnea. I did the clinic and came through with a score of 77.

I have had the CPAP machine for just about 3 weeks, and am at level 13. For the most part I am doing fine with it. The first few nights I would wake up and it would be off, as I think I was taking it off. I have trouble refitting my mask every few days.

My wife is having a hard time with the machine. Not that it is loud, but the bedroom is much quieter now that I dont snore. She will get used to it. I find it really amazing that you learn to live with things and don't think there is a problem, its just life and you deal with it. The biggest effect I have had is less headaches.

I am curious about the software downloads that I see people mentioning as my machine has the card in it that I can eject.

You don't say what kind of mask you have but, reading between the lines, I'd guess it's a nasal mask. If so, you might need to switch to a full face mask. With more info from you, people can help better.

I've been on the cpap for almost two weeks now. Last night was the first night I didn't take my full mask off after I switched to a bigger sized mask cushion. Ironically, I woke up more tired today and even fell asleep mid-morning, which feels as if the therapy isn't working.

Medical care in my part of the world is substandard and everything about my condition or cpap therapy I had to educate myself. My doctor has less updated information about cpap therapy than I do, so essentially I am treating myself. Depressing, really, so I'm really grateful to have this site.

Many of my close friends and colleagues do not understand how bad OSA affect one's quality of life and very often I feel very isolated dealing with this condition. Also, how do you tell people you have OSA so they understand what you're going through? And if you do get a chance to share your condition, people in general do not think it is an illness anyway. Only sufferers of OSA know how bad it gets.

I am now trying to see if I could track the progress of my therapy without the software. I couldn't afford buying the software. Medical insurance do not cover this therapy in my part of the world so my pocket was burnt paying for the machine and mask.

Good luck everyone.

I have a Respironics M series bipap. Can someone explain to me the the how the clock works inside? Are there any do's and don'ts for the smart card.

Can smartcard be damaged or degaused by airport x-rays?

Thank you for this, my doctors are wonderful but, they can only cover so much while in the office. This helps and the links break things down

I had my first sleep test 2 years ago and have done well once I got used to the idea of wearing a mask to sleep. I had a terrible time during my sleep study with a full face mask. I kept waking up feeling like my head was hanging out a car window at highway speeds! The sleep study technician finally brought in a nasal pillow mask and I slept the next 5 hours with no issues at all.

I've used a Respironics Remstar M100 CPAP with fixed pressure at 9.0 since then and never really felt like I was reaping the benefits of CPAP. This week, I ordered and received a Devilbiss Intellipap Autoadjust with Smartflex and Humidifier from CPAP.COM. I unpacked it, read all about the setup and adjustment, got the clinician manual, and set the min and max pressures to 6 and 12 (didn't want to let it go to 20 the first night).

I read my smart code this morning and entered it into the web site at http://www.intellipap.com. I have my first report. I'll start a new thread to discuss it. I'm finding there's lots to know about auto machines.

Can someone tell me what type of info would be listed on the 'smart" chip besides :
-AHI number
-mask leakage or not.
-hours of cpap used
