Re: My first night on ASV

Fast forward to about hour 3, when James finally gets to sleep. Forget all about the fact that James couldn't sleep because of that manual backup rate via trial-and-error that is bugging him so much. So just how much "clipping" of IPAP peak do you think you see there, Banned? I only see one minuscu...

Re: My first night on ASV

And while you are at it, can you please explain to the board the benefit of James clipping IPAP Max just after hour 3 when he concurrently scored a hypopnea? http://james.istop.com/apnea/reports/AsvNov28.pdf Thanks, Banned I'd say he was recovering from a DEEP Breath as Peak and Tidal volumes seen ...

Re: My first night on ASV

"The "recommended minimum IPAP-EPAP is 4 cmH20 and the maximum IPAP-EPAP differential is 10 cmH2O (Consensus)", refers to a recommended 4-10 cm gap between EPAP and IPAP or IPAP Min . That recommended EPAP/IPAP/IPAP Min 4-10 cm gap has nothing to do with properly setting IPAP MAx. Banned Actually i...

Re: using Auto to determine bi-level settings?

My opinion: Pay special attention to which pressure takes care of which event : http://bipapautomseries.respironics.com/images/treatmentgraph.jpg From the graph above you learn that IPAP pressure takes care of Hypopnea. EPAP Pressure takes care of Obstructive apnea and snore. Think of IPAP as being ...

Re: My first night on ASV

your sleep seems to go into the tank once you get into REM.... How did you determine REM sleep from the posted chart? Periods of events are more clustered around 90 minute intervals with relatively quiet periods seen in between. You should have 3 to 5 of those periods per night. REM is also were mo...

Re: PB GoodKnight 420E LCD display

My new doctor asked what the setting were for my CPAP machine were. Holding the leftmost button worked but the information is not very descriptive. You get the lower number followed by the higher number for the CPAP range. If you need to do this for your doctor, you may want to just copy everything...

Here's the other 4cmH2O to 10cmH2O recommended gap Doug mentioned in his post above: 4.3.1.6 The recommended minimum IPAP-EPAP differential is 4 cm H2O and the maximum IPAP-EPAP differential is 10 cm H2O (Consensus). http://www.aasmnet.org/Resources/ClinicalGuidelines/040210.pdf http://www.pubmedce...

Re: My first night on ASV

Interesting. What IT= time did you end up using?, think I suggested IT=2.05 seconds based upon BPM=12 If you used Rise Time=2; I would try setting 3 or 4, Rise time is more a comfort setting. You should be able to determine if Rise Time=3 feels better within a few minutes, might be something you exp...

Don: When you get leaks into your eyes you need to tilt the front of the mask in/out. Also, if it is the CrappyGel, you may need to boil the mask for a better fit. It will soften the gel and form better to your face. Instructions for doing that should have come with the mask, but you basically boil ...

Re: Anyone familiar with Servo-Ventilator from Respironics?

Is he taking off his mask BEFORE shutting the machine off? The machines have an option called "Auto Off", which is supposed to shut the machine down after taking off the mask, but it's a REALLY DUMB feature. And, for those who use it, it will really screw up the statistics. The user should shut the...
