Re: Cpap about be run over in “tragic” accident

Here's another vote for one of the soft cloth "Dreamweaver" masks. When I first started xpap therapy I couldn't stand the hard plastic masks. I found the Dreamweaver mask to be the perfect solution. I could sleep in any position comfortably. You might find this less disturbing that traditional masks...

Re: This Article Contradicts Most Sleep Apnea Studies

As a person who tested out at 106 AHI and whose oxygen saturation went down into the low 70s without xPAP therapy, I don't think I'll tempt fate by stopping therapy. Even though I was completely asymptomatic, I have been happy to use my servo ventilator every night for the last 5 years! (except for ...

Re: Many CPAPers take drugs to help them sleep

Actually, I saw this story too. It is based on the actual amount of drug that appears in the bloodstream. With Ambien, women had 48% higher level of the drug in their blood compared with men at the same 10 mg. dosage level. But the only problem discussed was alertness level in the morning and possib...

Re: Sleeping pillow

Instead of trying to change the way you sleep, you might try a Sleepweaver mask. You can sleep on your stomach with the fabric mask squished into the pillow and it still works fine. They now have both nasal and full face models. You can get them mail order with a 30-day return if not fully satisfied...

Re: Full Face masks for higher pressures?

Have you considered the new SleepWeaver full face mask? According to their website: "SleepWeaver Anew has been tested and approved for use between 4-30cm H20 on CPAP, Bi-Level and Auto-titrating PAP systems." Here's a newly posted video on this mask: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWPtpuCrFow I've b...

Re: First nights with the SleepWeaver elan....

I suggest you try the SleepWeaver Advance. It is the older mask they sell, but I found it fit me much better than the Elan. I have a few leaks, but less than with a hard plastic mask and easily remedied. I don't like the Elan design nearly as much and it didn't fit my face as well as the Advance. I'...

Re: Suggestions for a newbie buying a mask?

My experience has been like Chunky Frog's... the Sleepweaver mask has been much easier for me to wear than nasal pillows, although I have a Swift FX nasal pillow mask as an alternate. I find I wake up more with the nasal pillows leaking. I have an occasional "toot" with the Sleepweaver, but it is so...

So sorry to hear about your wife's hospitalization... when it rains, it pours. Hopefully she will recover quickly, and this will be the end of a bad string of health issues!

Re: Anyone let your spouse wear your hose?

Because my oxygen saturations were so low during my initial sleep test, I purchased a pulse oximeter so I could monitor this as well as the AHI information I get from my machine. This is a nifty little device that I have let my husband and several friends use. If someone's oxygen saturation is going...

Re: SleepWeaver 'elan' Fabric is better than silicone

I tried both the SleepWeaver Advance and Elan masks. I agree that the Elan is too big. I don't like the way it puffs up in front of my eyes. I settled on the Advance. Anyone who likes the Elan but finds it a little too big should definitely give the Advance a try. Since you can get 30-day money-back...

Re: New AMARA FF Mask - size petite

I'm guessing the reason you had a blister on your nose is that you have hump on the bridge of your nose The very expensive surgeon who gave me a beautiful nose would be offended! This one was labelled "RS" and another "S". DME didn't know what the letters meant. I joked "Maybe RS is Really Small an...

Re: Introduction - Newbie here...

Hi you handsome sonofagun! I think you'll do well with this group! You've gotten excellent advice on machines. I just wanted to add something about masks. I was also told that I had to have a full face mask by my sleep tech, on both occasions. (I've had 2 sleep tests.) It turns out, that just isn't ...

Re: Swift LT Nasal Pillow...anything better?

My two go-to masks are the Bella Loops and the SleepWeaver. Some people don't like the feel of fabric on their nose, but I actually prefer it to the feel of a plug in my nostril. You might want to check it out, you can try it free for 30 days. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/sleepweaver-advance-imp...

Re: Why I love my CPAP

Wonderful post! Very encouraging for people having trouble adjusting. I've had a fairly easy time of it, even though I've been through 3 machines and 9 masks! The main difference I can see is my AHI from the SleepyHead reports, but that's huge! From an AHI of 107 in my first sleep test to an average...
