Made in the USA?

Post by RoboLobo » Mon Mar 26, 2012 11:12 am

I was just wondering if anyone knows if any of the CPAP/APAP machines out there and on cpap.com are made in the USA. I noticed a "Made in USA" sticker on a photo of the Phillips Remstar Pro, but not sure if that is still valid. I do try to allocate some of my tiny purchasing power to goods still made in this country, that's why I am asking. Thanks!

DeVilbiss is US-based and manufactured. Resmed and Respironics are not based in the US, but I don't know if any of the machines are made here. I'm not sure about Fisher-Paykel or any of the smaller companies.

While talking to my DME rep the other day, she mentioned that the REMstar Pro I have is manufactured somewhere in PA.

YES, products are SO much better when they are made in less developed countries, and since we don't like to work for our paycheck, well all get to sit at home and collect welfare. Jim

I found out Fisher and Paykel is based in New Zealand. They do make some appliances here, but I'm not sure about their PAP machines.

I was wrong about where Respironics is based; they are in the US. I don't know if all of their machines are made in the US or not.

My new PRS1 that I got maybe a month or 2 ago has a sticker that says "Made in the USA." Seems to work about the same as the one I got in May that did not have the sticker...

Yup. Made in Australia was good. BUT Resmed has bought or bought into or contracted for some parts and items in other countries the last few years. IF I remember correctly the power connection that caused the 2006 Recall was due to a foreign made part. To the best of my knowledge all Resmed PAPs are still manufactured in Oz but not all the components used to assemble the PAPs.

Which is it? The Toyota that is now more actually American-made than the GM autos?

Most electronics are made in the far east. They may be assembled in the USA or Australia.

Some models, yes. Other models, no. I think most American built cars are about 50 to 80% US and Canadian parts. Reportedly, at one time the Honda Goldwing motorcycle had more American made parts than Harley Davidson!

There are GM components made in Mexico as well. GM tried to send my husband to the Mexican foundry to get the lines up and running properly w/less scrap and he refused to go there to eliminate jobs in the states. It was sticky for awhile but they found someone else to go.
