Increased heart rate at night-help!

Post by Aggiehorntwins » Mon Sep 23, 2019 2:56 pm

Hi, I am new to the forum and a fairly new Cpap user. (3mo) I have had an increased heart rate, up to the 90s once or twice per night. I do not have it every night. I bought a zzoma pillow to keep myself on my side, which does not seem to affect it. I turned off the ramp except first five min. I turned off the EPR. My apap settings were 5-15, but since I was usually around 10cm, the NP increased my settings to 9-15 which seemed to help somewhat. After a follow up visit it was increased to 11-15. I had a 24 hour pulse oximetry before the initial changes which revealed six hypoxemic events around 84-88 % and one to 77%. I feel like I have just not been taken seriously and the increased heart rate makes me feel terrible, so am taking matters into my own hands. I ordered an sd card reader to upload to Oscar, which I just found out about on this site. I also ordered a continuous pulse oximeter to wear at night. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what did you do? Thanks for any advice. P.S. I have not had significant leaks and Ahi less than 1 or so.

I am also a new CPAP mask user, so I will follow your thread to get the answer from the experts.

Update- so happy I found this forum and learned about the Oscar program. I purchased an SD card reader, uploaded my sd card from my cpap and on the night I had my overnight oximetry, 6 episodes of O2 sat <88% I had 6 obstructive apneas. My settings were changed from 5-15 to 10-15 and I only rarely have the increased heart rate and rarely have an obstructive apnea. I also bought my own recording pulse oximeter and my oxygen sat is a little lower with hypopneas but nothing as low as when I have obstructive events. So now I feel I am taking charge of my own health. Yay!
