Machine turns off. ????

Hi all.

I just got my new machine and dutifully stuck the alien to my face before I passed out on Thursday night.

At some point not long after I awoke to the realization that there was no howling gale drying out my eyes and no whistling or farting from my mask.

For a few seconds I was elated.....but then I figured it was because the machine had shut off.

!

I hit the start button and went back to sleep.

Last night I awoke twice - once to a rushing gale (so I fiddled with the mask until the gale subsided) and once to eerie silence. The machine had shut off again.

This time I had remembered to stick in an SD card, so I have screenshots

Does anyone know why the machine shuts off?

Can you scroll down the statistics column and grab a screen shot of the sessions?

Unfortunately we have to graphs available when the SD card wasn't in the machine. Your max leak was 38 L/min and that's not enough for the machine to think you weren't attached and shut itself off if SmartStart is enabled.

Check all your connections and make sure none are loose...especially the one at the machine.

Also confirm that the machine is indeed new with no run hours to speak of beyond what you used it last night.

I regret not having the SD card in on night 1.

I thought the app would give me more information. One day I will learn not to make assumptions.

The machine just records the data that it is designed to gather and it reports it in a factual basis.
The interpretation of that data is left up to the person or their doctor.
It is probably the most comprehensive amount of data out there. If you are disappointed that it doesn't evaluate the data...don't know what to tell you.

Each time the machine is turned on and then off it should create a new session...and this would/should include the times where you say the machine turned itself off.
This should be reflected in the session information but for some reason your machine is only recording the 1 session.
You should have more than 1 session in the sessions column.

Something is weird...don't know what but I would watch it carefully. This isn't normal to have it do that or show just the one session when you restarted the machine in the middle of the night.

Ok thanks for the reassurance that something is weird. I thought so, but wasn't sure.

I will persevere tonight and tomorrow, then call the DME Monday if it keeps happening.

I believe she is expressing disappointment in the amount of info that the MyAir app is giving her, and not in reference to SH. Of course I could very well be wrong!

Most CPAPs on he market today have auto-on and auto-off. That is they sense your breathing and turn on, and sense that the mask has been removed and turn off.

Sometimes, it wrongly senses one of these events, especially the latter. My suggestion is to disable the auto-off feature (if it's separate from auto-on), or the combined feature (if not).

When this happens and the machine is restarted there should be a new session recorded.
This machine is recording only one session last night despite it being reported that twice the person woke up and it was off and restarted the machine.
Even if it was related to the machine not sensing the human was attached for some reason it still isn't recording the restarts accurately.

Sleepyhead gives me the info I want. I was disappointed in the "myAir" app, not Sleepyhead.

I will disable the autostart/autostop and see where that gets me.

I agree that it is weird that I cannot see the session where I restarted the machine, but that was on the night before I had the SD card installed, so who knows what happened. I may not have recalled everything correctly.

Check the Run Hours on your machine. You purchased a "new" machine so make sure it is new.
As Pugsy said above "Also confirm that the machine is indeed new with no run hours to speak of beyond what you used it last night."

Hours of use are stored on the machine itself and should be written to the SD card when it is inserted even if it wasn't in the machine at the beginning of the night.
So while I would expect no graphs from the beginning of the night there should still be a recording of the first session when no SD card was in the machine. That's data that is stored in the machine itself and should show up.

In addition the MyAir report reflects on the one session. The same session that SH is reporting.

If the machine was turned on prior to the time of that session and used...it should be reflected in the sessions and it's not.

I have three sessions. A 5 minute test at 5pm Thursday, then Thursday night and Friday night.

I did not have the SD card in on this first night.
I recall waking and having to turn the machine back on.
That is not recorded by the machine.

Last night I recall only one session, which the machine recorded. I woke twice - once to deal with leaks, and once because the machine had stopped.
