Re: Poll: How Often Do You Clean Your Tank?
It takes about two nights to use most of the water in my Resmed humidifier. For about a year and a half all I did was dump out the remaining distilled water and then refill. However two days ago I noticed some pink scum in the bottom of the tank. Used some hot water and antibiotic liquid soap, rinse...

Re: s9 adapt "Whoooooooo" noises on exhale
I have had a short whistle or whine at the end of my exhale on my S9 Autoset ever since I got it 18 months ago. I got the machine replaced but I still have the whistle. And I wouldn't call it a soft cooing either. It is loud enough for my wife to hear even though I keep my machine lower than the bed...

Re: Shouldn't stomach sleeping prevent OSA in some people?
When I try to sleep on my stomach I still have my face turned sideways on the pillow. I don't think my tongue falls forward enough in this position to open up my throat and prevent obstructive apneas.

Re: I'm a light sleeper and my boyfriend needs CPAP
The new ResMed S9 Elite or AutoSet makes almost no noise at all. It isn't any louder than listening to normal breathing. You have to put your hand in front of the exhaust hole to make sure that it is actually on.

Re: Is it safe to assume,,,?
AHI vs Pressure is unique to each individual. I have used Encore Pro Analyzer to determine my pressure sweet spot. See my graph in the following topic: I have to make sure I don't set my pressure too high or too low to get the minimum AHI. Too low and Hypopneas increase; too high and central apneas ...

Sorry Ticman and Canadianguy,
I don't know how to get anything other than 3.13. That's what I am using now.

Re: Breeze Mask
Breeze masks are available from cpap.com (our forum sponsor) for a very reasonable price. I have never bothered to get a new Breeze mask from my DME. The only part that wears out for me is the rear foam pad on the headgear and I am able to get that part online for about $25.

Re: S9 noise question
I have had the exhale noise you describe with the Resmed S9 Autoset since I got mine one year ago. After one month I went back to my DME and let them hear it and they gave me another Autoset. The second one didn't seem to make the sound in the office but as soon as I got home it sounded exactly like...

I enjoyed the meeting. We each have had our own unique experiences with sleep studies, doctors, DME's, masks and accessories. Can't be a regular attender but it was fun to meet you all.

Reasons not to discontinue CPAP therapy even for one night
This seems pretty obvious to me, but here is a scientific study of what happens when you stop using CPAP even for one night:

Re: Compression Stockings May Reduce Incidence of OSA
I began using CPAP in 1999 and also had cancer surgery and radiation in 2003 for cancer in my leg. I developed lymphedema and must wear 30-40 thigh-high compression stockings during the day and a compression sleeve at night. I did have to increase my pressure from my original 7 to 9 cm H2O but I hav...

Re: Getting a Resmed S9 Elite on insurance
I was able to get Lincare to give me an S9 Autoset, H5i humidifier and Climateline hose by having my physician write all three items on the prescription. They tried to give me an S8 but I pointed out that the prescription specified exactly what I needed. Took another week or two but they finally got...

Re: Storing mask between usage
I have one of those foldout music stands beside my bed. The hose is routed over one side and down to my pillow to the Breeze nasal pillows which I just hang on the other side of the music stand when I take them off in the morning. I know, it's probably not that nice looking but we don't let visitors...
