Re: Rescan Statistics v. Detailed Graph Pressures

Today, when I viewed last night's numbers, the statistics indicated that my maximum pressure was 16.7. However, there wasn't a point anywhere in the detailed graph that indicated a pressure over (about) 13. Does anyone know why this discrepancy might occur? As mentioned already, one extreme data po...

Re: CPAP causing nausea?

I moved from the FX nasal pillows to a nasal mask. My mouth is uncovered. I breathe through my nose when I sleep unless I am congested. Yes, perhaps the nausea is unrelated to the mask switch- just a weird coincidence. I suppose I'll try sleeping without it tonight and see if I wake up free of quea...

Re: Pressure - 95th Percentile

... my first report out since getting my Resmed Autoset S9. Under the Pressure (cm H2O) header it records a 95th % reading. At the bottom of the report it refers to the 95th percentile. This reading is anywhere from 11.6 thru 15.3 with an average of 14.0. Does this mean this was my cm H2O pressure ...

Re: Odd ResScan problem

I wonder what happens when a ResScan resource limit is reached on one's particular computer. Unless you have an exceptionally low capacity hard drive in your particular computer , you will have shuffled off this mortal coil before that is likely to happen. Bill, that's just one obvious resource to ...

Re: Odd ResScan problem

Sounds like it only happened once to you. Now you have one more day to try and read into ResScan. I've been also faithfully storing the results into the ResScan database. Lost a day of detailed data once after changing clinical parameters, another time after I waited too many days to download. I won...

Re: Does anyone get GERD from using CPAP?

I have never suffered from acid reflux before, until trying to use a CPAP. Now every time I try to use my CPAP I wake up within an hour with quite painful GERD, even if I am careful not to eat before bed. I'm just wondering if anyone has had that and found a solution. Having also had the problem, I...

Re: Ask Dr. Park: How To Clear Your Stuffy Nose

To Dr. Park, or somebody who knows: - nowhere in the announcement is there a connection to Sleep Apnea mentioned; I'd only be interested in nasal inflammation in the context of CPAP use . - is this presentation any different from Dr. Park's previous comments on the subject? - if I am interested more...

Re: apnea on inhalation or exhalation

Can anyone tell me if it is it common to have apneas on exhalation, as I do? I gather (maybe incorrectly) that most people cannot breathe in and wake up snorting air in but I have trouble breathing out and wake up with sharp mouth exhalation; or is it all the same type of apnea? Hoping that someone...

Re: DME said no access to my data. True/False?

Usually, the doctor who analyzes your sleep study in conjunction with the sleep lab is unknown to the patient. They do that for a living and rarely do they interact with the patient/subjects. Their job is to issue the full report to the patient's referring doctor, and the patient works with that PC...

Re: DME said no access to my data. True/False?

SleepyHound, There are all several degrees of DATA and availability to read it, whether by the sleep tech, sleep doctor, DME, GP, or patient: 1. sleep study results: can be reduced to a half-dozen numbers, to a 2 page report, to a 6 page report, or to full access to the raw data (if one has compatib...

Re: Suddenly I couldn't breathe last night!

I increased my maximum pressure slightly (from 16.0 to 16.6), and the suffocating experience wasn't repeated last night. I've also been able to arrange my next sleep test for tomorrow night, so I hope to get an even better idea of what's happening. The symptom you mention happened to me due to cumu...

Re: Why data discrepancy?

To AMUW: This was a home sleep study with no EEG leads, so I'm not sure how the tech or whomever scored my test knew when I was asleep or not, perhaps from the breathing pattern. Sorry about misunderstanding your home equipment's 5 channels... was just trying to help, but using insufficient informa...

Re: ambien - cumulative effects?

Mike, I complained to my sleep dr after the first 8 nights that I have what feels like cumulative mask-induced nasal congestion. I also stressed to him that I have no anxiety, no other disorders, that the reaction to the mask is physiological. Still his "quick and dirty" solution was the Ambien "hyp...

Re: Help!!! Clueless about Flow Limitations

SWS, could you clarify a few things on the interesting curves you posted: - re the flow curves, showing some flow limitation and sleep fragmentation effects: I assumed that on your curves, like on my ResScan curves, Inspiration is positive and Expiration is negative relative to average flow. Is that...

Re: Why data discrepancy?

1. I had a home sleep study using a Nihon Kohden 5-channel EOS Recorder. The report I received from my sleep doctor showed a total of 81 Obstructive Apneas and 132 Hypopneas. Total recording time was 8.6 hours = AHI of 24.7. I believe I only actually slept a total of 3 hours that night... 2. Yester...
