Re: How long did it take before you knew cpap worked?
oh man, after my sleep study was over, I went home and slept for 4 hours!! I was exhausted I've been in denial for 10 years or more.... 30 minute naps after work were the norm.. I sleep fine, I'm not a fish tank... I do not need an air pump hooked to me. Now after using the machine for a week; my wi...

Re: Is It Me, Or Are Most Sleepdocs In Denial?
during my consultations, my sleep doc refused to acknowledge the possibility of my having claustrophobia issues with a mask on my face. It was the tech during the mask fitting and during the sleep study who were extremely patient and helped me get over it. I still have small panic attacks during the...

Re: 1 week with success, questions and frustration
Hi all as soon as I can figure out how to clip and post, I will... I'm still running windows XP. Last night was a terrible night for dry mouth... I know I woke up a few times and worked on getting my mouth moist to overcome the dryness. H5i settings were at 1.0 and had been perfect the previous nigh...

Re: Is it possible to sleep on your side with a full face mask?
my 1st few days on the machine, I laid frozen on my back out of fear of leaks, pulling the machine off of the night stand, etc.. by night 3, I was rolling over onto my side again without even thinking about it.. But the slight feeling of the mask being pushed sideways on my face by the pillow causes...

Re: How did you know you needed BiPAP
during my review of my sleep strudy results with the sleep doc, the charts clearly showed that I had obstruction and exhalation issues with straight CPAP with pressure settings over 10 when the pressure settings were set to 21 /15, almost all of my obstruction issues disappeared, I was able to breat...

Re: newbie having terrible time with mask leaks
my issue is with the quattro Fx mask and what I call "delayed leaks" after ramping When I turn on the S9, I prefer a 15 minute ramp to allow me to get accustomed to the machine, air flow and to fall asleep.. During that time, I get zero leaks. Wait 15 minutes for it to reach my Bipap settings of 21 ...

Re: Especially for newly diagnosed - Dealing with Change
Finally made it through my first night without feeling the need to rip off the mask.
I feel rested , but my lungs & chest feel like they ran a marathon.
How can I feel rested & exhausted at the same time??

Re: High pressure with BIPAP issues
hi I'm about 1 week into my acclimation with Bipap... my settings are 21 over 15..... so I have high settings for inhalation and exhalation... using a full face mask during the 1st few days, I had my ramp set to max time & occasionally I could feel my cheeks being blown open.... I'm guessing that I ...

Re: resmed S-9 info display question
THANKS!! The user manual simply states that you can check usage by selecting the menu options it would be really nice if the fact that the clock resets at a certain time was in there! DME training consisted of checking for mask fit, basic operation of machine and setting humidity. Here's a manual if...

resmed S-9 info display question
I must be pushing the wrong buttons or something Night #1 on Tuesday, I slept for about 2-3 hours with the mask and machine on... My wife has confirmed the estimated time, so wasn't 30 minutes that felt like 2-3!! Night #2 last night, I am pretty sure that I lasted at least 4 hours before the mask j...

Re: S9 Reviews
I just spent my 1st night with the machine and I am an brand new user... # it is very quiet and thankfully none of the lights stay on. I'm not thrilled about the hose connection being in the back,it essentially reduces the usable hose by about 6 inches. (Using a hose extension or 10ft hose is probab...

Re: another newbie & introduction
1st night with the machine strapped the mask on, fired up the machine with the longest ramp time available. 10 minutes later, the mask & machine was off....I felt like I was hyperventilating... Spent time relaxing and breathing normal & started all over again.... I may have slept for 2-3 hours until...

another newbie & introduction
hi all way back in 1995, I underwent the sleep study process. At that time, I did a full nights sleep wired up, no mask during the study. Snoring was indeed loud with limited periodic limb movement observed.. Sleep apnea was considered to be very mild. Much to the dismay of my wife at that time, no ...
