Re: ASV Legacy setup

My other issue that is also a major problem is my sinus closing up from the rush of air. Set the device to Risetime=3. Your device will run with a BiFlex setting or a Risetime setting, However, running BiFlex or RiseTime will automatically disable the other setting. As SWS stated, both BiFlex and R...

The sleep lab is open and the doctor is in: Make sure you start out tonight with the following settings: EPAP Min=4cm EPAP Max=15cm PS Min=4cm (auto-BiPAP as base modality) PS Max=20cm Max Pressure=25cm Rate=Auto BiFlex=3 Depending how you subjectively respond, and after 7 days (since it is a used m...

Re: ASV Legacy setup

Well, Uriahsky's unresolved health/SDB issues, and his seeming inability to attain a sleep study, take on the characteristics of a classic dilemma. I'm not sure how well or how poorly your medical situation translates to uriahsky's, Banned. Your situation is comprised of your health complications--...

Re: ASV Legacy setup

Given the complexity of health conditions indicating ASV, is it wise for a patient to pursue self-titration on an ASV? The short answer is probably, YES. I've self-titrated on all my ASVs. My first night, last night, on a PR-1 auto SV Advanced yielded 0.8 AHi. What are the medical contraindications...

Re: May Have Bought the Wrong ASV Machine?

Reset Rise Time to 5. That sounds more comfortable. You can experiment with this parameter while lying awake and rested. It's primarily a comfort feature, although some doctors will use quicker rise times to help mechanically offload the work of breathing (WOB). A Rise Time of 5 may be good if he h...

Re: Looking to trade a Resmed S9 ASV for a Respironics ASV

If anyone's got an AVAPS they're willing to trade, I'll consider taking that too. I have a lot of problems with shallow breathing and inconsistent tidal volume leading to frequent arousals in the middle of the night. I'm a zombie here, people. I don't have much to look forward to in the morning. I ...

Re: Looking to trade a Resmed S9 ASV for a Respironics ASV

You are correct. The S9 Adapt is worthless to you. But before you throw your S9 away, Lets look at the critical parameters of the device: EPAP: 4cmH2O to 15cmH2O Min PS: 3.0cmH2O to 6cmH2O (in 1/10th increments, i.e. 3.0, 3.1, 3.2...) Max PS: 8cmH2O to 16cmH2O EPAP + Max PS is equal to, or less tha...

Re: Looking to trade a Resmed S9 ASV for a Respironics ASV

So, I believe I'm correct in assuming that this machine is pretty much worthless to me at this point -- and it's my understanding that the Respironics ASV unit allows a higher min PS (though I'm having trouble confirming this). The only constraint on the S9 Adapt algorithm is that EPAP + Max PS wil...

Re: New Respironics REMstar BiPAP AutoSV Advanced User

Does anyone know if a PR System One Version of the REMstar BiPAP AutoSV Advanced is available or is what I have the only current ASV machine from PR? The Respironics REMstar BiPAP AutoSV Advanced is the current ASV offering from PR. The PR System One ASV may, or may not, be in development. How does...

Re: Respironics BiPap AutoSV Advanced Roars when it should Purr

I have a Respironics BiPAP autoSV Advanced machine and a few times recently it wakes me up because the air is roaring through the hose instead of the slower, steady flow I need. Turning the machine on, waiting a few minutes and then turning it back on does not help. Most nights it is fine, but I do...
