Re: traveling by train

Even getting a seat with an outlet does not solve the issue of the power cutting out at places along the route....sometimes brief, sometimes extended..... So pursuing portable battery would be a good idea if you plan on or want to train travel or camp or such things..... I have taken the train you m...

Re: Backpack for CPAP Plane Carry On?

Lowepro 's various lines of camera bags is what I suggest...

I have and have used until recently the Compu-Day Pack from Lowepro. Plenty of padding (adjustable) and plenty of room for hose/mask/machine...etc.

Re: DME won't submit to insurance for approval

I "barely" met the criteria as well, as my obstructive apneas are positional (and I do not knowingly sleep on my back!). I was de-sating I have a long history of cognitive fogginess, and non-restorative sleep. Because of these, my "score" was not the only consideration in the coverage equation. And ...

Re: 13 pound battery back-up

Needs to be carry-on...at least when I last looked for answers..... For a few trips, TSA was more concerned/interested in my CPAP lithium battery than in my computer or CPAP!! All three of those go in their own bin on the belt when going thru TSA security.....It is a drag but over quickly! Luckily I...

Re: Blocked nose can high hypopnoea?

I am thinking it can..... I have had quite a run of what I believe to be some type of allergies for the majority of 2011. Mind you, *no* sinus infections or anything like in the past. But lots of swollen nasal passages, sometimes overproduction of mucus, sometimes runny nose......and way too much sn...

Re: Combatting apneas affects on mental functions

There are all sorts of brain games....that can resharpen memory. And doing things like brushing your teeth with the opposite from usual hand that get yours brain to stay engaged (nevermind helping with motor skills in case you had an injury and HAD to use the other side!!) I do addition and multipli...

Re: Ever used the same pillows two nights in a row?

I wash LT nasal pillows as needed.....if my leak rate is zero, I leave it alone until it is not! Also wash if I have any runny nose issues... That often translates into weekly removal cleaning. Changing to a new one? I nursed my first nasal pillow from July 2008 until earlier this year (2011)! If it...

Re: BIOTENE

The mouthwash especially (I use it whenever I am home and brush my teeth). There is a mouth gel (designed to be swallowed) that is especially good if I am going through a phase of cotton mouth aside from breathing/leaking issues. I have used the toothpaste, but not currently...I have to be choosy wi...

Re: Quick question for those using apap

APAP ALL THE TIME 6.4 - 12 High pressures are usually very brief, but it does happen....and not really interested is being on straight high pressure!! Have toyed with idea of trying straight cpap, but have a few other new factors messing with my numbers so need to get those things settled down befor...

Re: DME wants my data card. Not sure I believe them.

During compliance measuring phase, DME mailed me a card that I was to mail back.

Can't they send you one to download to....or are the cards for your machine more expensive than the cards for ResMed S8?

Re: Doc recommends stimulant ? ?

I tried these pre-cpap. Didn't help provide a connected alertness I was lacking. So I stopped the doc led experiment. Proper quality/quantity of sleep is that key for me! And I am still working on those issues even though cpap is providing some improvement! Mostly, I wasn't much of a napper, so stay...

Re: OT: Hurricane Irene

No disruption of utilities; in my immediate neighborhood (out my windows) only had sappling sized branches and nothing over 2 inch diameter fall. Was on wireless internet most of the storm, and cell phone showed a signal every time I looked at it. A few blocks away had many large branches and tree t...

Re: What is your CPAP pressure?

Titrated at 7-ish....they raised to 8 and said it didn't do anything more according to the sleep study report. Well, it was a split night, hardly showed a right hunk and level of sleep! Given an APAP (love my doc!!), and two years later, my 95% is at or near 10 on average. Originally it was between ...

Re: Flu Shots are out!

No, I will not be getting one again this year.......based on personal experience. Got my first flu shot mid-90s when an elderly friend ended up with cancer. She wasn't strong enough to get her shot at that time, so all of us around her got them. I continued to get one yearly. For about 10 years.... ...
