Sleep Debt...

Hi, I wanted to start a discussion about sleep debt. For the record, I am a ~40 year old guy that was just diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. In thinking back I'm sure I've had some form of sleep apnea all my life. I've fought with micro sleeps when driving or working all my life. I had decided that these ...

Re: How frequently does your sleep specialist follow up?

I started in July. I had one visit to the DME to get a download for the Sleep Doc in August. One visit to the sleep doc in late August. She told me I was doing really good and I could skip the six month checkup and come back in a year. Had a second visit to the DME to get a download for insurance. T...

Heated Hose

Hi,

I have the Resmed S9 with the heated hose. Seems to work alright since I've had no problems with rainout. One question, should the heated hose feel warm to the touch? If so under what conditions? Mine has never felt warm and I wonder if this is correct or if I have a dud...

Thanks

Re: Poll: How Prepared Are You Regarding A Cpap Backup Plan

Being new to CPAP I was thinking about this over the weekend. What will i do in the case of a short, or long term power failure. Can I go a few nights if my machine pukes. I think I'll be watching Craigs list and Cpapauction for a backup machine and work out some kind of power solution to get me thr...

Re: Sweating at night.

I also was a bad night time sweater. Would wake up to a wet pillow and soaked sheets.. That stopped the first night I was on CPAP. x 1 billion This alone is worth wearing the mask for.

Re: Another Newbie

This is so true.. with newbies, getting used to cpap, finding the right mask, and managing leaks are the biggest challenge What is your breakdown of AHI? Central Apneas, Obstructive Apneas, Hypopneas? Here are thee last 2 nights. Looks really good if you pull out the Hypopneas AHI 11.5 5.4 C .1 .5 O...

Re: Another Newbie

Here is night 2....These are mostly for me to keep track of my progress. Sorry about the rambling.... Took the ramp down to 15 minutes, and I was sleeping long before the pressure got up to my prescribed lever. ResScan shows a bit of a snore on the graphs until the ramp finished and the pressure hit...

Re: Another Newbie

Well... Made it through the first night without any huge problems. I did run into some leakage issues, but those will get solved with time. Due to some problems at work I only got 3.5 hours of sleep, but I fee remarkably good for that little sleep. I can't wait for the weekend to sleep in and play c...

Re: Another Newbie

WOW!! Lots of good info. This place ROCKS! Luckily (or not) with the cost of my sleep study I will be meeting my deductible for the year. Surprisingly the DME is handing out Resmed s9 Autoset machines with the Humidifier and the heated tubing. My insurance rents the machine for 2 months and then buy...

Another Newbie

Hello, I'm one of the new folks here, so be gentle. A bit about me. I'm a 40 is year old guy, average activity level and slightly over weight. Over the last 18 months I noticed my 20 minute naps turned into 2 hours. My Saturdays required 2 naps when I could get it. I started falling asleep at lunch ...
