Re: Hands splints with CPAP arrgggghhhh

just a thought...if you wake up partway through the night to remove both braces anyhow, why not only use one brace at a time? Start the night with say, the left on, then halfway through the night, take it off and use the right. If you're only getting half a night's use out of them anyhow, does it ma...

Re: trouble adjusting-- anxiety and noise =(

I sewed a fleece "hose cozy" that covers the hose from the point of exit at the cpap machine, to within about 10" from where the secondary hose enters the mask. It fits loosely, and is held on by a hair tie at each end. I don't know if it cuts any noise level down, but it's less distracting to have ...

Do hiccups give abnormal readings?

Last night I had the hiccups shortly after starting therapy. I had a giggle, and kept the mask on, because I'm curious to see how they will affect my readings. Is this something that can be flagged as "abnormal" or however the doctors read results, or is it common enough that they recognize the patt...

Re: Notes from a newbie

You were 100% correct. I'm a tad frustrated. Not with my unit, or mask...but with PR making so many of these things that all look identical (only to me??), are closely named, and them are listed under a variety of titles. I was trying to tell my aunt what I wound up with, as she is due for a new CPA...

Re: Resmed P10 nasal pillows: inhaling exhaled air.

I'm also new to cpap, and have a minimum pressure setting of 4. There are times that I feel like the air is stale, already breathed, etc...I lowered the humidity setting, and I am using a jar of Vicks Vaporub as aromatherapy. Both have helped me to get past the feeling. The other thing I've found is...

Re: Notes from a newbie

Pugsy, I will take the non-miraculous miracle of not needing to get up 2-3 times per night to pee HAPPILY. My headaches are normally stress induced...or caffeine related (I'm an addict)...but the headaches I had the first few days were, apparently, humidity related. I'm GLAD I got that worked out. I...

Notes from a newbie

The first nasal pillow I tried I LIKED, mostly...except it seemed like I couldn't breathe well. I think that defeated the idea of wearing it. Anyhow, the swift fx I got came with 3 sizes. XS, S and M. I was put into a S, which apparently wasn't right...so I started monkeying with sizes and finally r...

Re: New to therapy

Wow...okay, so I will try to respond intelligently to the wealth those two responses brought...good luck on my part. Sleep study info was taken with an "at home" test, but I tested while in my truck sleeper. That was fun. NOT. Sleep study time was 8hrs, 4 min. Plenty of time, IMO. pAHI reading was 1...

New to therapy

I'm an over the road truck driver, and recently was required (forced)by my company to take a sleep study. So I did, and voila! A month later I'm sleeping with an 8' plastic snake trying to hug me all night. I'm trying to stay positive and get compliant, as I'm interested to see if my "mild" sleep ap...
