Re: First night with Intellipap Auto

Below is my baseline data for my prescribed pressure at 9cm. I think this confirms that my issue is definitely EPI ... I'm losing therapy through my lips, as several have commented. I had 31 exhale pressure index events, but my AHI was 11.5, the lowest of my first 3 days with the Intellipap auto. I ...

Re: First night with Intellipap Auto

Thanks, Emelia. I agree that I am losing therapy through my mouth. This happened with my fixed pressure CPAP as well. I keep my beard trimmed to about 1/8" and I have a couple of FFMs that work well that way. One is a Fisher-Pakel with a double layer seal. I'm a side sleeper who ends up on his back ...

Re: CPAP clinician and CPAP User

I would be interested in hearing about the sleep study and DME industry from a clinician standpoint. We all complain from time to time about sleep doctors, DMEs, and the insurance industry and how they make it difficult to obtain the best equipment. Many of us settle for what is recommended (which i...

Re: tooth soreness

Masks that are too tight can cause this. Try loosening the straps to ease the tension on the nasal pillows. Wiggle them a little after the adjustment to check for leaks. Adjust as necessary. If you are wearing a chin strap, that can also cause pressure on the lower lip and tooth sensitivity.

Re: Need some help (data review)

The giveaway on the apnea bars is that the center of the circle at the top of the bar is white, indicating central apnea. Had they been obstructive, the circle at the top would have been red, regardless of the bar color. Central apnea, according to the descriptions I've read, simply means that you t...

Re: CPAP Machine List ?

I would talk to them about YOU purchasing the machine of your choice and submitting the bill to them. Find out what they will pay in that case. BCBS, about two years ago, ended up paying $90 a month for 13 months for a manual Respironics CPAP. I paid most of that, due to the high deductible plan I w...

Re: First night with Intellipap Auto

I set my intellipap to 9min and 16 max to see what pressure it settled on. I spent the first hour in bed unable to sleep with the pressure rising until it was intolerable. My feeling was that I got no sleep in the first hour, although I suspect that I started to fall asleep several times and the pre...

Re: Insurance company stopped covering CPAP rental!

I had a similar situation, also. I was with BCBS and changed to Cigna after 4 months. The original deal was 13 months and the machine was paid for. I began receiving bills and contacted Cigna to resolve it. They negotiated a payoff with the provider and I paid a percentage of that. Home Free! There ...

Re: First night with Intellipap Auto

I would also think about raising the minimum. These machines take time to raise the pressure in response to event triggers. If it takes too long the events come and go before the machine can get to where it needs to be to adequately prevent the events. This happened to me. In my case 8 cm minimum h...

Re: First night with Intellipap Auto

I would rather suggest you set the minimum pressure just under your titrated pressure and leave the maximum wide open to start with. That would be 8-20, and tighten the range slowly depending on the results. That's probably good advice. I will do that. I'm having trouble on this board inserting an ...

First night with Intellipap Auto

Last night, I received my Devilbiss Intellipap Autoadjust with Smartflex and humidifier. I researched this machine for a long time before deciding that is was the best one for me, IMO. For the last two years, I have been using the Respironics Remstar M100, a fixed pressure CPAP plain Jane model. My ...

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start

I had my first sleep test 2 years ago and have done well once I got used to the idea of wearing a mask to sleep. I had a terrible time during my sleep study with a full face mask. I kept waking up feeling like my head was hanging out a car window at highway speeds! The sleep study technician finally...

Re: First night on Devilbiss Intellipap Auto, not comfortable

Emilia's got you covered. I'd just like to add that this machine has a lot of flexibility built in and the setup is important. If you got the machine from our sponsor, CPAP.com, the machine will have come with the clinical manual. I was just browsing the forum since my Devilbiss Intellipap Auto was...
