Re: Slight raise in AHI's. Resmed pressure seems to low.
I'd take anything under 5 and run with it. Due to the scoring methods used, my Devilbiss Intellipap is said to report AHI several points higher than Resmed and/ or Phillips Respironics, from what I read here. I switched from a fixed pressure Respironics CPAP a month or so ago and a good night for me...

Re: What are these events & Why am I getting them?
Daytime sleepiness is probably the best criteria to judge therapy, at least by my doctor's surveys at visit time and by my own personal experience. My AHI does correlate with a tendency to nod off during leisure activities, such as watching TV or sitting for long periods listening to someone talk, a...

When they tell you that this machine is the only one they are authorized to supply?
When they tell you that you can't have an auto machine because it requires a different prescription than E601?
When they tell you to try this one for 30 days and they will swap it out if you don't like it?

Re: Help treating nose sores from Swift FX
It gets better with time, provided you do have the right pillow size. I used an Opus 360 for almost two years before trying the Swift FX. In the first weeks of using the Opus, I had nasal irritation. I never used a lubricant, but found that adjusting the tension on the mask straps helped tremendousl...

Re: Mouth leaks exposed? Please see chart and advise, thanks!
I'm still experimenting with tape. I haven't been able to find anything in a 2" width but painter's tape and paper surgical tape. The painter's tape just doesn't stick well, even if I clean my cheeks with alcohol first. I have some 1" surgical micropore tape to try tonight. The 3/4" micropore tape l...

Re: CPAP the next generation
I haven't been able to find a meaningful discussion on why Devilbiss didn't include flow graph data in the Smartlink software. I know that the algorithm they use monitors the last 6 readings and drops the oldest as the new reading is added. With the Smartlink interface, it wouldn't be hard for the f...

Re: Constantly smelling exhaust fumes
EDIT: We cross posted after I posted the following, but this info may help someone else, so I'll leave it here. I had a situation where there was a smell in the bedroom area of our house. it was kind of like the smell you get right after you cut the car off in the garage. It turned out to be one of ...

Re: Mask Frustrations
A pressure of 14cm is pretty high, but lots of people have pressures like that in the forum. Mask seal is dependent on facial structure (bone shape) as well as the mask. If you are leaking around the eyes, the only option I know of is tighter straps or a new mask. It's also possible that skin oils h...

Re: New PR S1 Pro Auto IQ
The control and revenue portion of the Doctor and DME part of the spectrum would dictate that they keep you coming back for more. Education by the DME and the Doctor would be beneficial to the patient in using the machine and the software. OTOH, not all people are savvy enough to use the software or...

Re: Snoring with CPAP Mask on
The software is hardware specific. For my Devilbiss Intellipap Auto, I use Smartlink, which is a software package sold by the manufacturer. For certain Phillips Respironics machines, you can use their software or a user supported open source program such as Onkor or Sleepyhead. Had I known about tho...

Re: Does it get worse?
I've noticed on my graphs that there's a high limit where hypopneas and NRI's increase with pressure. Everyone should have a sleep study to determine the initial pressure and prescribed range. A sleep study is something that you might dread if you have never had one, but mine turned out to be a rath...

Re: New PR S1 Pro Auto IQ
Considering the price difference in APAP and CPAP, especially with machines like the Intellipap becoming available, I'm wondering if the industry isn't headed for a all-auto standard. I would guess that most people have a sleep study, get assigned a number, feel better and continue on their way. It'...

Re: Snoring with CPAP Mask on
Your equipment list shows a nasal pillow mask. If you are leaking air through your lips or your mouth is open, you can snore. Chin Strap or tape might help. Even with a chin strap, My monitoring software shows that I snore more than I realized from my wife's comments. I'm experimenting with micropor...

Re: Short Hose from Mask
Someone else may have better information, but I think what you are saying is that you want to use a short standard hose to connect the mask to the longer hose going to your CPAP. I think that would be just fine. The shorter, more flexible hose is there for easier movement as you turn over and move a...

Intellipap data format ... decoding to a database
I'd like to read the data from my smartcard and write my own software to compile and view the data. Rather than sift through the data and discover the delimiters, I thought I'd ask and see if anyone has done this. I can write the code for the viewing software. I just need to be able to decode and re...
