Re: Tongue Exercises May Ease Sleep Apnea
"Upper airway remodeling" without surgery sounds great. But, probably works best where obesity is linked to the OSA--article mentioned a decrease in neck circumference. Hopefully, there will be more studies.

Re: Mouth breather's experience using a mouthpiece
I have been using something like that to prevent bruxism, but, alas, it didn't stop mouth leaking--had hoped it would, but taping is still the only solution for me. Definitely worth trying, though.

You can post it for sale here, and on Craigslist. Probably will do the job.

Re: Hose Hanger = Higher AHI???
If there really is a change, it must be mask leaks. Sounds like some experiements are in order. It might be that you are not allowing enough slack in the hose on your side of the hanger.

Re: Question about generic adapt sv filters.
You are probably right. I have a Resmed Adapt (backup machine) and the filters I got for it have a blue-tinted side that faces outside. The white side (facing in) has a thin layer of more dense material. My filters don't fit very well either way, though. If you can mash the filter in and put the cap...

The problem with Van Cott's analysis is that it doesn't go far enough. WalMart achieves its low prices by buying from the cheapest-labor sweatshops to be found in China and other places, where America's labor and environmental laws do not operate. Our retreat from sensible tariff barriers over the p...

Re: Dr. Krakow, salesman extraordinaire?
I've read through this interesting thread but still do not understand what makes Dr. Krakow's method of titration with the ASV different from the methods used by other sleep labs (and recommended by the manufacturers). Can anyone explain? Otherwise, I will wade through the material on his web site.....

Re: S9 UPS solutions w/ home generator
Your brother is right. That's why one should buy a good quality surge protector with indicators that show when the protection circuitry has failed. Too many people use cheap units with protection circuitry that blew out years ago--without them knowing. A robust UPS does offer a lot in surge/spike pr...

Re: My experience with taping
If the chin strap works to prevent mouth breathing, and the only complaint is what it does to your hair, I would wear the chip strap. You can probably find one that does not interfere as much with the hair. This will save you having to buy tape, and also the potential risks of taping. As for tape, I...

Re: please tell me your battery set up for your S9 autoset
How long do your power outages last? If one night, you might get by with a large jump start battery pack, such as the Clore Automotive JNC660. That would probably give you two nights for the Cpap alone, or less than one night for the Cpap plus humidifier. However, the best solution by far is a large...

Re: Which machine type should I go with? Depressing!
I would say the BiPap is the right choice for the titration, to be followed by an ASV if the BiPap doesn't do the trick. As for buying the BiPap and later deciding you need straight Cpap, you can generally use a BiPap like a straight Cpap by setting the inhale/exhale pressures the same. Just be sure...

Re: Help -- Battery Backup GoalZero
Archangle I am clueless about electricity! I read about how I have to recharge in a well ventilated area, it's lead, it's heavy, challenging to connect, etc. Altogether too scary sounding. I believe the GoalZero battery is also a lead-acid battery: sealed AGM. You can buy a AGM deep cycle battery--...
