Re: I think I can quit CPAP ? ? ? ?

I don't know what was different about the night that the snoring returned. I have sleepyhead software, but of course, that only tells me whats happening when I use the machine, not when I don't use the machine, which was the point of my experiment. I haven't downloaded my chip to analyze, but I do h...

Re: I think I can quit CPAP ? ? ? ?

Ugh, well, so much for the good news I was reporting. I have been running my sound activated recorder for days now and had many nights with absolutely no snoring or sore throats in the morning. This morning, I woke up and found lots of data on the recorder. Yep, I was snoring like crazy last night a...

Re: I think I can quit CPAP ? ? ? ?

Well, there is certainly lots of good info here. I especially like the comment about having obstructed episodes that don't result in reduced blood oxygen levels. I forgot about the neurological effects of being woken up constantly to restore breathing. Thanks to all. Also, as a side note, my primary...

Re: I think I can quit CPAP ? ? ? ?

ChicagoGranny, i think you are trying to tell me that sleeping position affects apnea, but I'm unclear as to which positon is worse or better. Also, to be clear, I have not lost 20 lbs, I have lost over 50. I started CPAP at 230 lbs and continued to balloon up to 250 lbs. I stayed at that weight for...

Re: I think I can quit CPAP ? ? ? ?

I sleep mostly on my side and sometimes more on my stomach. I definately have never been able to sleep lying on my back.

Re: I think I can quit CPAP ? ? ? ?

A home study ? Well, I'm not sure what that is, but I was wondering if I could find a blood oxygen meter (the finger kind) and see what values it loggs during the night. I'm not sure if such a thing exists for the consumer. Another idea, which will take longer is to use the features in my ""PR Syste...

I think I can quit CPAP ? ? ? ?

Hello folks, I haven't posted on this forum in quite a while. I want to tell you where I've been and what I think I'm going to do next: In 2010 I had gained about 20 lbs and my wife had started complaining that I was snoring. (I was 46 years old) After gaining a few more pounds, a sleep study indica...

Re: Sleep study "How often" ? Are you kidding me ?

Thanks for all the great replies. I did confirm with my medical supplier that my script was written to expire after one year. I will be asking my primary care doc to take over.

Sleep study "How often" ? Are you kidding me ?

I've been on CPAP for a little over a year and my sleep doc is now refusing to renew my script. I can no longer get hoses and masks and nasal pillows. The reason for this . . . my doc says I need a new sleep study every six months to check my pressure needs. I am on a standard cpap with a setting of...

Re: Full face mask and an open mouth

I normally breathe through my nose, but when I have a cold (like now) my mouth opens as needed if I can't get air through my nose. I'm thinking my body will switch between mouth and nose breathing as needed and my mouth will open a bit at times.

Full face mask and an open mouth

I have excellent results using a Swift LT nasal pillow mask, but, on occasion, if I am very congested, I need to breathe through my mouth. So, I was thinking of purchasing a Quattro FX full face mask. The Quattro FX comes in small, medium, and large. When I measure myself with my mouth closed, I nee...

Re: Need Help with System One Machine...

I have a system one Cpap. My machine uses very little water also. I can go about 4 nights on a tank with setting 3. System one humidification is
turned to on. I don't have any problems with dry sinus's, though. My nose is always kinda wet and runny.

CPAP weight loss, um NO !

I was told that one of the possible (or probable) benefits of CPAP is that most people lose weight once they start getting quality sleep. Well, its not working. My pattern of gaining a couple pounds every month for the past 2 years is continuing. I think maybe it's because I now spend more time awak...

Re: Swift FX : Which size pillow is right?

Scott, I had lots of whistling problems with nasal pillows. I eliminated all whistling by removing the allergen filter
from my cpap. Try it as a test. You may be surprised.
