As far as evidence, I suppose one area where I see evidence of its effectiveness is in the smell. My equipment doesn't get nasty smelling between cleanings anymore. Another area is the humidifier reservoir. In the past I would notice a slickness, or slime build-up on the interior surfaces of the reservoir. This doesn't happen anymore. (Truth be told, I didn't always keep up with my cleaning the way I should have.) I have to conclude that the smell and slickness I was getting was connected to something in my CPAP equipment that shouldn't have been there and that the SoClean has eliminated it. As someone who has had sinus issues for most of my life, I've noticed an improvement in this regard as well, although I realize that such evidence is anecdotal.

SoClean device: $299 (+)
Washing your equipment per instructions: pennies.
Portablity, affordability, sensibility: priceless!

Seems to do a good job of eliminating the intermittent nasal irritation and congestion I was getting despite cleaning regularly (allergy-like, not sure what it was). Couldn't be easier to use and well worth the expense for me.

Hey! I could put my filter in the Dri Store when I remove my hearing aid!

I'm too new to the forum to know if you were serious about this or not, so I'll ask in all seriousness -- is that something you ended up trying and does it seem to make any difference?

I don't have my machine/mask/etc. yet, but if this is a good way to help keep the filter clean, I could keep it in mind to give it a try since I have a Dri Store also.

No, I did not. Nothing takes the place of filter replacement.
The UV bulb might kill some bacteria present on the surface of the filter, but ozone gas would penetrate and kill more microbes.
No germ -killing would occur after the dri-store was off, and a dirty filter would still be dirty--just temporarily less germy.

Ozone is chemically unstable and reverts to O2 after a few hours.

Actually, depending on where you live, you may well be consuming water from your municipality that has been ozonated during treatment. They do this because it disinfects the water, doesn't create disinfection byproducts. and is effective against fairly large sized pathogens like spores and protozoans.

I recently started using the SoClean with my S9 machine (equipped with a water tank). After opening the box, I realized I had to purchase a $20. adapter for the cllimate hose I use. The directions call for inserting a rubber hose for the water tank with a bent paper clip. The tube sits in the tank permanently - not a good idea. once the installation was completed, I realized that there was no way to take out the water tank to clean or refill it - the tube in the tank is tighly connected to the larger tube connected to the machine. I found that I had to refill the tank with it in place - a practice that Respironic says should never be done. Although the machine worked well, I did smell a strong odor of ozone during use. After a few weeks of use, I began to develop headaches each morning. I took apart the tank for a close inspection, and found that a gray scum had developed on the bottom of the tank! I have since completely disassembled the S9 for cleaning and disconnected the SoClean. I'm planning to ask for a refund from SoClean. It's amazing to me that they would have such a poor installation for a CPAP machine as popular as the S9.
Live and learn, I guess!

I have a ResMed 10. I am undecided if I should get a soclean2go. I called them and asked and the rep didn't know if it damaged silicone seals in my machine. He got a supervisor, Peter, who said he had the soclean2 for 5 years with no problems to the machine or the CPAP equipment and hasn't any paper documentation that it actually caused problems. But, no one could validate for sure that it didn't do damage to silicone. On Amazon, there's 10 page debate going on about problems with ozone damaging the silicone seals in the machine and that would be a costly problem, right? I want an easier way to clean my equipment when I'm on a cruise ship or camping. hanging a hose up isn't my idea of a good time plus the hose is often still wet hours after I've washed it with soap and water. I wish there was an alternative. It's very confusing. People have given it almost 5 stars out of 5 on many different sites. Yet this controversy is also evident. Help...

If you register as a member, you can then do a forum search for SoClean and see the very, very, very many threads, opinions, etc... and the consensus (to save you trouble) is that it is, if not an actual scam, a definite huge waste of time and money. Do not bother - it's been disproven as garbage and is useless.

And for some reason you came upon this thread, but for some reason couldnt read what people said about No Clean and the fools that fell for it. if you do decide to buy, get two, that was you will be able to not clean twice as good. Jim
