My cat has discovered my CPAP hose

Post by KATCSR » Thu Dec 13, 2018 10:52 am

and she thinks it's a play toy! She baps it with her paws and then decided she wanted to chew it... I have put my hose away today but at night when I'm using it, I guess I'm going to block her out of her room.. #CPAPPProblems

Duct tape the hose or smear the hose with some citric smell - orange or lemon peel.

Get a hose cozy or cover if you want (or she wants) back into the bedroom.
It will protect the hose from nasty little teeth and claws and make the hose no longer sound like a play toy.

I tried the citric smell stuff on some power cords in an effort to deter kitties from chewing on power cords (cpap machine, lamp, computer, etc)....useless. I think my kitties actually liked the stuff.
Fortunately they don't have any interest in the cpap hose. Go figure that one.

Would I be able to find a hose cozy on Amazon?

Yes...lots on Amazon. Snuggle is decent enough but the best ones come from Padacheek.com
I have had both...for claw/teeth protection you want dense and not thin material.

Hers cost more but denser better fleece without undue weight being added and more likely to not be penetrated by claws or teeth.
Besides...Karen (owns Padacheek) is a cpap user herself and a forum member here...and her products are well made...so I think she is worth it.

Speak to a vet. Ask which substances would repel cats without endangering them.

And guaranteed to yank your mask right off your face from the weight.
Though I did put the plastic version of that over all the cords I could find that the cat's wanted to chew on.
Every now and then they find a new cord somewhere and I see teeth marks and I have to go get the black tape and then cover it with the plastic stuff.
One of these days I am going to find a fried kitty.

Lol oddly enough my cat has never bothered my CPAP equipment, but is very quick to take over every other thing I possess (and ignore the things I buy for her).

Neither of mine ever attack my hose or mask, and one doesn't attack anything. Sadly, the older of the two has got some smarts and she figured out the On/Off button on my AirSense 10!!! That's a way to wake up!
Life before my CPAP was really no life at all!

Mine have only gone after the hose if I happened to move in a way that causes the hose to fall across them. And then it is like, oh, a kicker toy!

I think I am on my second hose with the main machine, first one with the travel machine. Never had a hole. Oh, and I sleep on a water bed. The first year, I had a couple tiny holes. Nothing since.
