Medistrom Pilot-24 - Beeping Annoynace

Post by Shnoozer » Sun Nov 17, 2024 11:56 am

Hello all -

I am preparing for a month of travel in Asia, and during that time I'll be in a few places with unstable power, i.e. generator power that occasionally shuts off for a few minutes at a time. I am testing the Medistrom Pilot-24 as a UPS/power solution and it looks promising. My original intent was to take the AirMini but the mask noise is proving to be a deal breaker, so I'm probably going with the Airsense 11 + Pilot-24.

I have been sleeping with the battery connected to the AC power, and the Airsense 11 plugged into the battery. I have tested unplugging the AC and the unit works great - no interruption and the CPAP machine just sails along. When I plug power back in, it goes back to charging mode. Perfect.

A strange thing is happening, though, which is:

Every night of my 3 day trial, I've had the battery start beeping and won't shut up until I unplug/replug the AC power back in. I played with it for a while and found that if I just take off the mask and let it blow air, I can trigger this effect. I think, during the night, I sometimes take the mask off to get up and use the bathroom, then seconds later I push the button to turn off the CPAP so that the whooshing sound doesn't wake my wife. Or sometimes, it just slips off I guess- but either way it causes this infernal beeping.

I am getting pretty decent seal and not too much leak, but almost every night there will be a short but massive leak while I am moving around, adjusting, etc. and this triggers the beep. Also not great is that at the place I am going I will be sleeping under a mosquito net, and the CPAP will be outside the net!

I looked up this beeping pattern and found the following in the manual:

I wonder what's going on here - the cables are the manufacturer-made add-on cables to support Airsense 11. They do feel very cheap but it's hard to imagine this is a cable issue. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

thanks!

Surprise update: FIXED!

According to the manual, this error suggests an issue between the battery and the attached device. The only replaceable part was the cable, that I had to buy separately to attach the battery. It seemed fine ,but I ordered another just to see. Problem solved, I guess it was a bad cable!
