AirSense 10 pressure relief not working after cleaning
AirSense 10 pressure relief not working after cleaning
Hi guys,
Thanks for a great forum with a lot of people helping each other.
My question is related to the AirSense 10 AutoSet. When I clean it I first disconnect the tube and mask, clean them both and let them hang and dry. After a few hours when it's time to sleep I connect everything again.
The problem is when I start the treatment. Each time I exhale the machine is pushing back with air which cause the mask to expand and leak around the edges. It's almost like the EPR (which is on) is not working anymore.
After changing the mode a few times (AutoSet/CPAP) and disconnecting the tube, the machine starts working normally again (but I'm not sure if this is really related).
Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Could it be incorrect sensor readings due to water still left in the tube?
Thanks for your help,

Exactly what are all your machine settings for pressure/mode and EPR setting?

Hi there,
My settings are as follows. Please note that the machine was working before cleaning it, and I did not not make any changes to the settings.
Mode - CPAP
Set Pressure - 4.0
Ramp Time - Off
EPR - On
EPR Type - Full Time
EPR Level - 1
SmartStart - Off
Mask - Full Face
AB Filter - No
Essentials - Plus
Press. Units - cmH2O

Re: AirSense 10 pressure relief not working after cleaning
Is there a reason you're only in Cpap vs Apap mode, and at the lowest possible level of 4 (machine default low) which most people find impossible to breathe at?
Re: AirSense 10 pressure relief not working after cleaning
The machine can't go below 4 cm so EPR simply can't kick in when the pressure being delivered is 4 which is what your starting pressure is.
I don't think anything is wrong with your machine and certainly nothing related to just cleaning the equipment.
I think what happens is you are noticing the lack of EPR drop more for some reason or other and getting a bit frustrated and breathing gets a bit irregular which in turn will cause the machine to increase the pressure a bit and once the pressure goes above 4 cm then EPR kicks in and you feel it.....this would be auto mode/apap.
The settings you posted are for cpap fixed mode....
In fixed cpap mode with the pressure set at 4 cm it will never ever go above 4 cm so EPR won't ever kick in.
If you want EPR set to 1 in fixed cpap mode you would need to have a starting pressure of 5 cm.
What are your settings in auto mode?
Which mode do you normally use?

Hey guys,
Thank you for your help. I will adjust the pressure to 5 and give it another shot. Thanks again for a great forum.

If your pressure is set to straight 4, and no you're setting it to straight 5, it's almost a sure thing that it's misconfigured and *far* from optimal.
I would post some OSCAR graphs and see how it could be improved.

Good question - I was afraid to ask.
