Others have mentioned the damage that can be done by water. My impression is that even a small bit of water can do a lot of damage. When I travel with my machine, I either don't put the humidifier back in place when I pack the machine, or I make sure that not a single drop of water remains in the humidifier.
Also, some of the M-series humidifiers have leaks that could short out the machine, from what I've read. They leak inside the machine for a while before the leak is obvious. Perhaps someone who knows more about these leaks might elaborate. It looks like you have a classic REMSTAR, but I just wanted to mention it.

kennethryan, thank you for your very easily understood explanation. It all makes sense and is very pertinent for those of us on the forum.
It is my hope that you will comment on any electrically-related thread. We need posters such as you!
So, does this mean that those of us who may need an MRI should not take our xPAP with us?

Be kinder than necessary; everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Statistically speaking, the chance of getting numerous new defective machines in a row is very unlikely. It's much more likely that something you are doing or something in your environment is causing these failures. My first thought was your DME or somebody else is repairing these and trying to pass them off as new, but that appears to be incorrect. The next best guess is power. Be sure you have a good surge protector. Do you have any problems with other electrical gear? Has lightning been in your area? Do you have to reset your clocks daily or weekly because the power dropped for a moment?

BigGuyXXL, I have the same machine as you and came here to this site to look for some information and within a minute I find your thread. I am on my 5th machine in just over two years. The machines seem to last 3-6 months and then I get the same error codes you have. I do travel frequently, not by air though. I travel in my motorhome on weekends. They tried telling me the same thing about water, I explained to them that it was just not possible. My provider has been great about trading me for new ones, but this is getting old.
