LADIES:HAVE YOU TRIED A STRETCHY HEADBAND FOR A CHIN STRAP?

Post by SleepyNoMore » Fri Oct 26, 2007 5:42 pm

HAVE ANY OF YOU EVER TRIED A ~ "STRETCHY HEADBAND" ~ , LIKE JOGGER'S WEAR AROUND THEIR FOREHEADS TO KEEP THE HAIR OUT OF THEIR EYES AS A "CHIN STRAP" I HAVE BEEN THINKING ON HOW I CAN (KEEP MY MOUTH CLOSED) WHILE I'M SLEEPING AS (TAPE IS OUT OF THE QUESTION), SO IS (THE POLIDENT), AND I TRIED THE NYLON CHIN TIE AND IT DIDN'T WORK, I ALMOST HUNG MYSELF JUST KIDDING . I WAS THINKING ABOUT RUNNING TO WALMART TOMORROW TO GET ONE AND TRY WEARING IT TOMORROW NIGHT, I KNOW IT WOULD LOOK (GEEKY) BUT BEING ON CPAP THERAPY, WHAT DOSEN'T??? THEY SHOULD MAKE EVERYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH CPAP THERAPY LOOK SEXY DON'T YOU THINK A HEADBAND WOULD BE CONSIDERED SEXY TO OUR HUBBY'S FOR {A BUCK VS A RESPIRONICS CHIN STRAP I BOUGHT FOR 25.00} & S&H AND IT WAS SO MASSIVE IT IS MADE FOR A MAN , I THOUGHT FOR (US LADIES) WITH MUCH (SMALLER FACES) THAN A MAN, THIS JUST MIGHT BE THE ANSWER! THE GREAT THING ABOUT A HEADBAND IS IT HAS "NO VELCRO" I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED BUT GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK AND OPINIONS! THANK'S LADIES, YOU LADIES "ROCK" ON THIS FORUM SEE YA

Headbands for straps

Post by kteague » Fri Oct 26, 2007 6:35 pm

Hi. I have used stretchy headbands in place of pantyhose tights straps at times to stabilize my mask. I did try one for a bit as a chin strap but the problem I ran into was it kept sliding out of position on the back/top of my head. In my mind I see a series of straps for my deconstructed TwilightNP (or Aura or Headrest) that is one unit with the strap tensions supporting each other with the main headband, nosepiece stabilizer, and chin strap all stretchy but snug in one slip-on unit. That's my dream. And that's my dog.

I have wondered about the stretchy headbands as well. Keep us posted.

I've tried a stretchy headband as a "mouthband" around my mouth and cheeks to stop chipmunk cheeks/blowfish. What works best for me right now is some of that self adhering 2 inch tape that's a bit like an ace bandage, but lighter in weight and texture. It might also work for a chinstrap, but I don't wear one of those.

I do use my stretchy headband in addition to pantyhose tights straps with my deconstructed headrest/aura/twilight. I deconstructed it differently. When I get time to take a pic, I"ll post it.

The headbands are very inexpensive and I've thought about using them with the nasalaire II as well. Just put some velcro loops around it to hold things in place. The headbands are sometimes decorated with flowers and shiny jewels.

I got 3 in a package and use one of them as a hose cover for the small thin hose on my Headrest mask. it is an exact fit and not too bulky. I'm going to see if there's one with thicker fabric or even use two. It is a bright color. You could color coordinate all these pantyhose straps and headbands, just do away with the dull medical look altogether.

Stretchy handbands

Post by kteague » Fri Oct 26, 2007 10:43 pm

I knew there was something I wanted to mention before but couldn't bring it to the forefront of my brain... I have tried several different bands, from sports to fashion, from terry cloth to cotton to spandex - one loop or velcro - you name it. It is hard to get one off-the-rack that is just right. Too flimsy - no support. Too tight - pillows crammed up the nose or tubing smashed into forehead. Think before you buy - I've got a collection of these things now and my hair is too short to use them as ... headbands!

I had bought a band that people wear over their ears in the winter, but it was too tight. I had also tried regular hair bands that girls wear, but they were catching on the velcro on the top of my headgear; and they were thin.

I asked my husband to buy me a sweatband like runner's wear. He got one at K-Mart for 1.97. I put it under my chin and over the top of my head. It works great! I much prefer it to Poligrip.

I use the waisteband part cut from a queen size pair of panty hose as a chin strap. For more information and a picture, see this thread: viewtopic.php?t=25112&highlight=

headbands

Post by Ms Piggy » Sat Oct 27, 2007 12:39 pm

yes, been there done that. it's ok, but I seem to prefer tape, at the moment anyway.
I found that they squished off my head so I had to rig up an elastic round the back of the head just above the ears, try it with safety pins till you get it right. anything is worth a try, especially for only a buck. good luck.

"LADIES:HAVE YOU TRIED" LADIES:??? Just LADIES:?? Shirley do YOU have something against men??

I have recently been exploring the kinkier side of "Scunci's" after reading some posts by RG. I also use them with my Knee Highs from the $1 Store.

Picture me, standing in the Ladies aisle at Walmart - trying these "Scunci's" on my head!!! As mentioned above by several posters yea you have to make sure they fit. Plus they will get caught in your velcro. I am not sure why you would need to 'add' velcro to them. I use one as described above - pull from under chin, up over the head. Another below the chin from strap to strap, no velcro needed just undo the straps to slip right thru the Scunci. I pull one side tight, the other hangs loose. I actually put my hose thru 2 of them BEFORE I put the hose on the mask. This way I just slip them up & over the hose.

If they are too long, you can experiment putting a twist or 2 in it or simply sew it to make it shorter.

They have dramatically reduce my mouth leaking. The over head one puts just enuff tension on the jaw to keep it closed, yet you can still move it if need be. No Glue, No Tape. Done.

"Scunci's" are NOT just for the LADIES:.

If you are trying to find a custom fit - don't forget to try the Hobby & Craft or sewing sections. You can get pretty creative for a few bucks with some of the things I saw.

Us gals usually have smaller faces and heads than men and I have never seen a man wear a headband ! I didn't stop to think that alot of men have small faces too, sorry if I offended anyone.
