I am scheduled for my titration test tomorrow night, but I have no idea what to expect other than a couple threads I read on here were people were saying it was the worst night of their lives.
I'm wondering is you guys could give me some of your experiences of what I should expect.
Thank you.

Re: Titration test tomorrow, what to expect
I did a split night study, so diagnosis and titration were the same night. My sleep tech fitted me for a mask and had me use it for about 10 minutes before going to sleep. After I finished the diagnosis phase, she woke me up, sent me to the bathroom, and then put the mask on me. I rolled over and woke up almost 6 hours later. Best night in a long time.~Q~ wrote:I am scheduled for my titration test tomorrow night, but I have no idea what to expect other than a couple threads I read on here were people were saying it was the worst night of their lives.

I think the main thing is to have a mask that is comfortable. Many people that have a bad night also had a mask that didn't fit them well.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Re: Titration test tomorrow, what to expect
Did a split night as well... same results as above... About the time they came to put the mask on I was about to get up and give up on sleep like I'd been doing for a year or so..
They put the mask on I was out within 10 mins and they woke me at 6am... Most amazing night I'd had in years. I felt absolutely electrified to have gotten more than 2 hours of sleep...
I was happy to have gotten it all done in one night. Probably doesn't help much for a two different night study.
Either way, as much as I hate, despise even, my machine and having to use it. It doesn't matter. I wouldn't not use it for the world. At least I can sleep.

Re: Titration test tomorrow, what to expect
When I had my sleep study, the tech said that if I had really sever apnea, then she would start me on a therapy. She did fit me with a mask the first night and had me try out the CPAP while awake -- felt really weird. However, when I woke up the next morning I wasn't wearing a mask. After seeing the Dr the morning after my sleep study, I was told I had moderate to sever OSA. The Dr. didn't have my numbers at that time, but I'm sure she'll have them tomorrow.
I'm really hoping I get a machine on Tuesday. Im just so exhausted right now.

Well, it wasn't the easiest night of sleep, but it wasn't horrible. (I had mine one week ago tonight.) There was some fighting with the mask, and when I got up for a bathroom break, I asked the tech to bring a different mask. The 2nd mask was much better, and I felt like I got some sleep then.~Q~ wrote:I am scheduled for my titration test tomorrow night, but I have no idea what to expect other than a couple threads I read on here were people were saying it was the worst night of their lives.

All they did for me was come in around 10pm and wire me up just like at the sleep study, except no little prongs in my nose to annoy the crud out of me. He brought in several masks (I asked for full face) for me to pick from, I tried them all on and chose one. He told me whenever I wanted to switch just let him know. It did take me a good while to get to sleep, but I had taken a nap for most of the afternoon, and I was wired (I was thrilled to be getting titrated.) I think it took me about 3 hours to settle in to sleep. About two hours after that was potty time, and then I slept until 5am when he unhooked me.
Being on the machine was weird, and it did take a few minutes to get used to it. Masks leaks with the first mask were VERY annoying, because they blew into my eyes. The second mask i didn't really have problems with leaks. Honestly, the whole thing was pretty much just like the first sleep study. Nothing to worry about at all. I did wish I had a sleeping pill, though LOL.

I took the sleeping pill. Glad I did. I was nervous. Similar experience to the others.

Re: Titration test tomorrow, what to expect
Remember that you can push a button to call the RT tech in at any time of night. So if you're having ANY difficulty at all, you can get something changed or attended to to make you feel more relaxed and comfortable. I couldn't get to sleep so I asked to be disconnected so I could go to the restroom AND take a good 15 minute walk around the halls to relax my legs and get drowsy. Then I got reconnected, took a pill and the RT soon got the necessary amount of sleep time to get her readings for the report.
Through it all, I never actually felt tight or nervous. Nothing really to be anxious about; no injections, no pain, no nothing but a bunch of electrodes (wires) attached to you so they can collect the necessary readings, and you get to try different masks and even change them at night upon pushing the button and asking.
Have fun and good luck.
