Re: sleeping great on asv but stomach pain ?
This may indicate a condition called aerophagia in which higher pressures induce the patient to swallow air.
Is the pain relieved by burping or passing gas?

I wonder what would happen if you tried to lower your bottom pressure by even one number e.g. to 14... see if you can find a happy place where you get 'therapy', but no stomach problems.
Re: sleeping great on asv but stomach pain ?
if you are going to experiment with changes in pressure, the better value to change might be the PS min value.
Because of the complex nature of the ASV machine, its always good to coordinate with your doctor about what the problem is and what changes in pressure setting might be to helpful to alleviate the problem.
It may be that your doctor, as mine has, says it is OK to vary the Pressure Support numbers within a range to help with the aerophagia symptoms or that a small change in EPAP may be helpful.
In my case, my doctor indicated that I could safely change the EPAP up by as much as 1cm H20 and / or change the PS min up by as much as 4 cm H20. I am trying to reduce my hypopneas now that my obstructives are completely controlled. With much caution, I have changed the EPAP from 9.0 to 9.5 and PS min from 5.0 to 7.0 in two separate steps waiting a week to see how things changed. My next step is to move the EPAP up just a little more to 10.0 and reduce the PS min to 6.5 so that the initial IPAP stays the same. Then its another week to see how that works.

Did you change the settings on this machine to your prescribed settings or are you using it just like you got it?

Re: sleeping great on asv but stomach pain ?
Great questions Stormy. I should have thought of it as well. Sometimes these machines get shipped with settings that don't follow the prescription. Mine was and it took a couple of days for me to notice and change it to the prescription numbers. That's the second time that has happened to me, once with the local DME ( whom I fired for other reasons ) and once with a mail-order DME.

Re: sleeping great on asv but stomach pain ?
You might try spending some quality time with the machine awake during the day. I do not understand what the “dance” with these ASV machines is like or how being awake is likely to affect that. What I do know is that my breathing stability (breathing stability is likely part of why you have the stomach issues) goes better if I practice with my CPAP machine during the day.fordjx4000 wrote:the pressure is set to my correct needs
I think stress management is likely a key.
You might also have your vitamin D levels checked. Those who are working with the D3 hormone (A.K.A. Vitamin D3) (e.g. Dr. Stasha Gominak, Michael F. Holick, Ph.D., M.D., Vitamin D Council) seem to be finding that the very low side of the “normal” range of 30-100 ng/L produces a range of symptoms including OSA, pain, and infection. All believe that a level lower than 50 ng/mL is not good and Dr. Stasha Gominak recommends 60-80 ng/mL for good health.
May any shills trolls sockpuppets or astroturfers at cpaptalk.com be like chaff before the wind!

Are you swallowing while you have the machine on?
I had to learn to swallow on exhale only.
