Re: Adjusting Settings on Airsense 10
I am very satisfied with the minimum setting of 10. I can fall asleep easily at that pressure, and my overall average pressure is around 11-12 and seldom goes above 16. I have increased my use, so that I am often getting 6-8 hours of sleep per night using my CPAP machine. My average AHI on CPAP is 3...

Re: Adjusting Settings on Airsense 10
I increased my pressure in two stages. First, I increased minimum pressure to 8.0 for two days, but my AHI was still 6.52. Then, I increased the minimum pressure to 10.0 for three days, and my AHI dropped to 3.60. The good news is that with the higher pressure, I feel like I am getting plenty of air...

Re: Adjusting Settings on Airsense 10
Thanks to everyone for the advice. I will start tonight with a higher minimum to see if that does the trick. I know that 4 seemed way too low, so I may need to experiment with some different levels. I will try setting the minimum at 8 tonight to see how that goes. I never had access to the settings ...

Re: Adjusting Settings on Airsense 10
I am still learning, but I interpreted the rash of events early in the session as occurring while the machine pressure was slowly ramping up to a higher pressure. The pressure immediately goes to 4, but then it seems to take a while to gradually move up to a higher pressure. The time period from 21:...

Re: Adjusting Settings on Airsense 10
Thanks! You are correct. The minimum pressure is 4. I saw that when I uploaded the data to OSCAR. I have a lot of events in the phase where the machine is slowly ramping up to a higher pressure. Maybe turning off ramp would solve that as well. I pushed the starting pressure up to 6 to see if that wo...

Adjusting Settings on Airsense 10
I just purchased a new Airsense 10 CPAP machine. It was set so that the initial pressure setting is only 2, which makes me feel like I am not getting enough air flow when I first put on the mask. After taking care of all of the things I need to do before bed, including climbing the stairs, I need mo...

Re: CPAP Rental vs. Purchase?
Thanks for your post, I will read up on positional apnea and look into getting the right pillow. The advice from the group on ways to sleep on your side has already helped, even without the CPAP. Good news! My insurance finally pre-approved me to get the new CPAP machine. I ordered the Air Sense 10 ...

Re: CPAP Rental vs. Purchase?
Now as to past 10 years not feeling well rested....that could be a whole other can of worms going on there. There is so much that we don't know about what has been going on. Thanks to everyone for the advice. Pugsy, here is my "can of worms:" Aside from sleep apnea, much of my sleep issues in the p...

Re: CPAP Rental vs. Purchase?
Thanks the tennis ball sounds a bit scary, but the stuffed backpack or pillow might work. I ordered a new mask and tubing, so I can use my existing machine until I can decide which one to order, but if I can stay off my back in the meantime, I might still be able to catch some zzz's...

Re: CPAP Rental vs. Purchase?
The prescription is for an APAP--an "Auto-Adjusting" machine, not an "adaptive" machine. This means your insurance will NOT cover an ASV, regardless of purchase or rental. If you feel you still need an ASV, you need a different prescription, OR you can buy a used one. A member here, LSAT, often has...

Re: CPAP Rental vs. Purchase?
I got a copy of my sleep study. My diagnosis is severe, positional obstructive sleep apnea, but recommendations are for Auto CPAP and avoid sleeping on my back. I added the graphs because they show that most of my apneas occur when I roll over onto my back during sleep. Maybe something that keeps me...

Re: CPAP Rental vs. Purchase?
Can you write exactly what it says on your prescription? Second, if you are getting up to toilet a lot at night, it suggests you are not getting effective therapy. That should be explored. Has your doctor done so? And, you can simply disconnect the hose, leave the mask on when you get up at night. ...

Re: CPAP Rental vs. Purchase?
Thanks so much to everyone for the advice. My original diagnosis from around fifteen years ago is "Obstructive Sleep Apnea," and the machine type says "CPAP or APAP." I have not seen the results of my most recent sleep study, but the original sleep study was done in a lab setting with lots of monito...

CPAP Rental vs. Purchase?
I am new to this forum. I am a heavy snorer and have been using a ResMed VPAP Adapt machine for over 10 years with varied results. My sleep doctor says it is time to replace the old machine with a newer model. My new script is for an adaptive machine, so I was looking at AirSense 10 on CPAP.com webs...
