Re: WISP Nasal Mask from respironics.
Day 1...so far I HATE it. There's a lot more hard stuff on my face than there was with my swift II. Those 4 arms are hard and dig into my (average sized - maybe a bit small) face. I also had a war with it because my heated hose is too heavy. I was using the bit of elastic at the top to hold the hose...

Re: Cheap heated hose
How hot are your cables to the touch? Remember (assuming you've carefully read all the detailed posts above), I'm using a rheostat (lamp dimmer) to reduce my cable's heat output by 40%, but more importantly, my actual (measured) 15 watts (varies by season) is distributed along a longer CPAP hose (1...

Re: Cheap heated hose
How hot are your cables to the touch? I was pretty clear that mine melted down because I leave it on all the time. Last night I wrapped it around my cable and plugged it in. Since it was on top of the cover, I could feel it. It was actually somewhat uncomfortable to the touch. I don't think it was t...

Re: Solution for air in mouth?
" Mkirkwag, what is a dry mouth wash? Someone else suggested "Entertainer's Secret" to moisturize the throat at bedtime, but I couldn't find it at the pharmacies I went to. Ideas? " Sorry I took so long to answer. I use Biotene. At first I got it at a small pharmacy in the hospital (I had to ask for...

Am I the only one who had meltdown with the 15 watt cable? I had meltdown - so be aware.

80 watts, that sure is some power. I have been using a 15w, 2 metre cord for a couple of months. Takes the edge off just enough to stop the rain out. Doesn't even come close to heating up to melt stage. Tim would have been proud. Wilson "yep, yep, yep" Don't go getting all overconfident there, maki...

Re: Disposing of an old cpap machine
I have an old, off brand CPAP machine that I no longer use since I now have a Reperonics Auto Cflex. How should I dispose of my old machine If it still works, definitely put it on cpapauction or give it away. Sleep equipment is pricy and there are desperate people with no health coverage out there....

Re: Mask Recommendation for active sleepers
Hi everyone. I'm an active sleeper. I move around a lot and that was my problem last time. I generally start to sleep on my stomach and shift to sleeping on my side before I fall asleep. I'm told I move a fair bit after I fall asleep. I've been trying to determine what mask type is most likely to w...

Re: Solution for air in mouth?
And now for the contrarian view: I still got dry mouth with my mouth taped using nasal masks - pillow and "regular." My doctor finally told me that it isn't uncommon and isn't necessarily solvable - it's exactly what you describe. They see it in the lab with people who aren't mouth-breathing. I know...

Re: Sudden wakings - have you solved this?
Excerpt from the Encore Pro "Help" menu: "FOSQ is the Functional Outcomes of Sleep Questionnaire that helps to determine if a patient’s life-style is improving along with their therapy." Your flashing lights MIGHT be an indication that the humidifier is not seated properly. (among other things) Den...

Re: Sudden wakings - have you solved this?
Nothing in the manual about leak rate. I couldn't find anything in the docs for the Swift, either (doesn't mean it's not there, but I couldn't find it). I remembered something else - apparently my machine started flashing it's blue lights about 3 am and continued for hours. According to the manual, ...

Re: Sudden wakings - have you solved this?
kteague - all my sympathies for what you've gone through. It feels like being tortured, doesn't it? You may be right about the drugs. I'm hesitant, because I've had some reactions. I tried Rozerem (mimics melatonin), which worked for awhile, but then had the opposite effect. I thought I was nuts unt...

Re: Sudden wakings - have you solved this?
.......Thanks, Bev. It makes perfect sense...BUT...I have a REMstar® Auto M Series with C-Flex. You can see it without the humidifier right here: http://remstarautomseries.respironics.com/ That's my buddy with the bright blue lights like the runway of an international airport on my nightstand. What...

Re: Sudden wakings - have you solved this?
LOL!! Thanks, I needed that. I can drag you down to the depths. I gather you're just starting therapy? Hang in there - the results are sufficiently worth it that I'm going through all this fuss Really, I meant IT can drag you down to the depths, but since I've offered, if you ever need to be dragge...

Re: Sudden wakings - have you solved this?
mkirkwag, I think the reason there is confusion over the type of machine you have is because you mention your leak rate at ".3" The Resmed machines measure the leak rate starting over and above the intentional exhaust rate. So it sounds as though you have a Resmed machine. The Respironics machines,...
