Cleaning a Resmed Autoset Spirit

I slept for a few days in a house that had a weird smell. After getting home I realized that my CPAP, a Resmed Autoset Spirit now has that smell all the time! I changed filters but it didn't help. The odor is in the machine! Is there anything I can do to clean it? I don't want to toss out a machine ...

Sleep apnea related to ear problems?

I've had a lot of chronic ear problems in the past year and I think these are related to my ongoing fatigue. I saw that chronic ear problems are sometimes treated by removing the adenoids! They can block the eustachian tubes connecting the ears to the throat. The adenoids are often also removed as p...

I was told by the anesthesiologist that if they had to tube me for some reason, they would not extubate until I was fully conscious. That made me nervous, but was not necessary. I had an endoscopy last year. That's where they put a tube into your stomach to look around. I was fully concious. They h...

I think knowing what kind of equipment someone has is useful when answering their questions.

I'm also somewhat claustrophobic. This may be part of your problem. I prefer Resmed masks because the clips are easier to undo. Knowing I can remove the mask quickly helps my claustrophobia a lot. Many people insist that a humidifier is essential. I don't use one because warm humid air makes me feel...

General Anesthesia and Sleep Apnea experience

I just had general anesthesia and spent two nights in the hospital for a laser lithotripsy. (That's where a laser is inserted through the urethra to break up and extract bladder stones.) I informed them that I had severe OSA. They did not seem terribly concerned about that and did not want my APAP f...

I really feel that machines that have a readout of AHI are critical. Without that you have no idea how well you are really doing. I use my mask all the time when I'm asleep. If I take it off, especially later in the morning, I feel it. I suspect that my apneas go way up that time. I've woken up feel...

If you're asking why God or fate decided to do this to us, I have no answer. Why did they decide to give my seven year old niece leukemia? If you want to rephrase this and ask what the causes are, there are several answers. Sometimes it starts with weight gain. Others are not overweight and yet they...

I find a room air filter works well for allergies if you sit close to it. Are you changing the filter on your machine when it gets dirty?

You may have to use a full face mask if your nose is getting congested. I find the Ultra Mirage Full Face mask works well.

I believe the software gets the date from the APAP. If the date on your screen is wrong, the date in your machine is wrong. To change the date in the machine, press right + down at the same time for several seconds until the clinical menu appears. Press enter on the clinical menu. Press the down but...

I've had some skin problems that I'm convinced are related to sleep apnea. They are slowly getting better as my fatigue slowly gets better.

I'd like to know the same thing. The name is apparently stored in your machine. (I have an AutoSet Spirit.) I don't know how you get the software to send your name to the APAP.

Another four days have gone by. I was off Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I slept a lot and felt a bit worse, but today I felt pretty good. I felt better today than I have in a long long time. I still don't have the energy I should have, but I am getting closer. It does seem that when I slee...
