When I went for bypass surgery the hospital called me and told me to bring my cpap machine with me. Once the intubation tube is taken out and you're back in your room you'll be allowed to use your machine. They have cpap machines at some hospitals but they'd rather you bring your own because of your...

I'm a truck driver with OSA. I wouldn't dream of going out overnight without my machine. There are more truckers on CPAP therapy than you may think and more going on it all the time. There are those misinformed that think that you shouldn't be a driver if you need CPAP. In reality it is just the opp...

I'm a driver and I have several friends who are drivers and are on cpap. I don't recall it ever being brought up when I went for my last physical. If it was then it was marked as treated. My machine goes with me everywhere I go over night. I agree that those of us on cpap are probably safer then a l...

Taking a late Oct Cruise

My wife and I are taking a 7 night cruise to the Virgin Islands departing on October 29 on the Carribean Princess. I was just wondering if anyone else here on the board is booked on that same cruise? I have checked out many threads on cruise boards concerning taking cpap machines.

Being a truck driver it just isn't practical to clean my machine or mask more once a week when I'm at home. I do carry a container of distilled water with me to add some to the humidifier when needed. I do wipe the mask and my face every night before bed with an alcohol free baby wipe with aloe. The...

I just bought my second Activa just so that I would have a spare. For some reason this new one seems to do a better job at sealing than my old one. I am a side sleeper and have no problem with it. Snork is right, if it leaks around the eyes usually a little poke will seal it. My biggest problem is w...

I have a waterless Vicks vaporizer that I use when I have colds. It sets on the night stand next to my cpap machine. I can still smell the Vicks when I have my mask on. So yes it does help.

My wife tells me to rollover and put my mask on and go to sleep and that's exactly what I do. I'm usually asleep with a couple of minutes. She hates that because it sometimes takes her hours to get to sleep.

I work for a trucking company and we have a few drivers that use cpap machines. Our company installs power inverters in their trucks. Several of our drivers have microwave ovens with them and all our trucks are equipped with refrigerators. It really depends on the trucking company.

I returned my Comfort Curve to my DME today. They aren't very comfortable for side sleepers plus I had an allergic reaction to the cheek pads after about 3 hours of sleep.

Comfort Curve Irritation

I finally got a Comfort Curve yesterday and I'm returning it Monday. I had no problem falling asleep with it on last night but at 1:45am I woke up and the pads were irritating my cheeks and under my nose and I actually felt like I couldn't breath with it on. I quickly took it off and put my Ultra Mi...
