Hey, thanks guys for the nice responses. You've all made good points. And I did admit I was being whiney in my post. (Thanks again for not jumping down my throat for complaining about it as well.) And let me reiterate to the newbies here what many have said, the information on this forum is truly pr...

What I'm saying is that most future CPAP users started with symptoms like daytime sleepiness. I didn't really have that. What I did have was moderately high BP and a "strange" EKG. This led to all sorts of tests etc. At that point it was mentioned that I snore a lot. So I got the sleep study, which ...

My unscientific sleep experiment...
Hey all, So I'm one of those guys who just "don't know if CPAP works for me...". I keep using it though because it keeps me from snoring, which keeps my wife from eviscerating me in my sleep. (And maybe that whole heart attack thing doesn't happen to me...). Started with an APAP machine that didn't ...

Yeah, I hear you. Heck all this apnea stuff for me started with a weird EKG at the doctor's office, then tests, then stess tests, then words like "you might have had a heart attack..." but they weren't sure. Then the sleep test, CPAP, etc. But, honestly, if I went to the ER everytime I had heartburn...

This just my own experience. But I snored light a freight train before CPAP. My wife suffered for many years with ear plugs. Once I was on CPAP, I simply don't snore at all or very softly. So for me, snoring was completely eliminated. What Jim said is very true. I had to tape my mouth shut to preven...
We and he also don't know what the limitations of his ticker are. You never know how far you can streach a rubberband until after it breaks. Jim
You are absolutely right, of course. I'm just saying we don't know all the details. I was just a little put off by all the extreme statem...

Yeesh, guys. Lighten up a bit on the "You must use CPAP or die tomorrow" statements. Yes, I understand that sleep apnea is a serious condition and potentially life threatening. But the guy said he has an AHI of 15. That's not exactly "severe". We don't know about what his desaturations were, which I...

Yeah, I hear you. I'm a bit concerned over Aspertame, Splenda, etc. Sometimes it seems the only safe thing is tap water, and even that is questionable. I wonder if I'm choosing between brain cancer or a heart attack sometimes. But it's very difficult to try and find tasty lo-cal "safe" food items in...

Yes I am sure he knows you don't have to be fat but most are. ... I accept it now and can't go back to no cpap but now my energy is looking better maybe I will lose some weight and not need it- not likely - I like good food and Mountain Dew. I am going to try switching to a diet soda though. I drin...

Hey Erin, Not much help here but I too feel your pain. I never really had "daytime tiredness" so using this thing was more challenging. This thing is supposed to help me get more energy so why is it sucking the life out of me? I was pretty lucky, 1 completely horrible night, 1 pretty bad night, 1 me...

Hey, everybody just calm down. I don't think anyone was trying to be rude or hurtful at all here. I too find really big fonts hard to read and usually pass them by. The responder is just saying, "if you use a smaller font you might get more responses and it's just easier for the rest of us to read"....

New PB420E and never recording an apnea?
Hello, Well I've been using a Resmed APAP (Response? The one where it is an APAP but gives you no reporting information whatsoever) for over a year now. I've been a little frustrated with just "guessing" how well my treatment is going. So I cough up the money for a PB 420E and eagerly awaited the re...

Hello all, Not trying to be a negative Nelly here, just a thought on this. Isn't it interesting that we are supposed to look at all the people who have it worse than us and feel good but when we see people who have it better than us we aren't supposed to feel worse? Why is the one comparison valid b...

Hey Catnapper, Not to decry the previous poster's success, but don't let the fact that some people experience instant improvement make you feel that it's going to be a failure for you. Not sure if it will, but I know I've always feel a little bit discouraged when I see someone else suceeding without...

Well everyone has said it but let me add my voice to the chorus... To lose weight... 1. Burn more than you consume. Your body cannot defy physics. If you eat less than you work off, you will lose weight. Yeah, it's not that simple but the good news is that your body will get better at burning calori...
