Re: OSA because of weight gain

I have lost nearly 90 pounds in the past year or so and my doctor mentioned that I might not need my CPAP. My pressure hasn't changed one bit. I would never want to go back to the way I felt before CPAP. I used to fall asleep at rock concerts, pro football games at the stadium , and every drive-in m...

Re: Is anyone trying to lose weight?

Years ago I joined the Diet Center. I don't know if they're still around. It was expensive and starvation to the point of weakness and dizziness. As bad as I felt, I didn't really lose any weight. Worst diet experience ever. I know someone who did very well on Jenny Craig. I guess all of these place...

Re: Is anyone trying to lose weight?

Murphyslaw, Have you tried adding in a bit of exercise (beyond what you get running around after your family?) A few years ago I lost 35 pounds and 5 inches around my waist mainly through a simple 10 minute walk-in-place type exercise DVD. I did it 3 times a day - before work, at lunch and after wo...

Re: Is anyone trying to lose weight?

I am right there with you. That's why I enjoy Weight Watchers, they call it a lifestyle change and not a diet. Any diet where you put things off limits is going to fail. Instead I have permission to eat that ice cream, or burger, but is it really worth it? That's what I have learned, often times to...

Re: Is anyone trying to lose weight?

Hope1952, You sound so much like me. At least we're on the right track, getting a good night's sleep which really helps. I hope you weren't flooded too badly. We were thinking of heading that direction for a vacation but don't know if it's a good idea at this time. Dreamstalker, your initial respons...

Re: Is anyone trying to lose weight?

If you know that restaurants are your downfall, why do you then give them your business? I have not eaten at a restaurant in over two years now. I give them my business because my husband won't cook for himself (even though he knows how just fine) and after cooking for him all week, I'm sick of it....

Re: Is anyone trying to lose weight?

I lost two pounds, the same two I've been losing and gaining for the past six months, but I didn't eat out yesterday. Restaurants are my downfall, even though I really try to behave there and only order healthy items from the menu. Intense yard work helped this week, too.

Re: Is anyone trying to lose weight?

Jaylee, I'll be thinking about you this week as you walk with the kids. Good for you. Post back and let us know how it goes. Two doctors told me I would have to have one or both of my knees replaced in the not-so-distant future. That and the knee and back pain were enough to make me change my ways. ...

Re: Is anyone trying to lose weight?

I am TRYING to lose weight. March of '09 I was 320lb (5'5") I weighed myself today and I was 247. I thought I would have gained weight because I have been under a lot of stress the last 2 weeks Yes, you are succeeding, wetlizard. Great job. Have you hit any plateaus or is it coming off steadily? Re: Is anyone trying to lose weight?

I could use some of your inspiration, too. Maybe you all will inspire me to exercise. I've been doing an old Weight Watchers program with the exchanges (mostly from memory) but, after losing 85 pounds, I've been stuck since last September, still following it. I have a good bit more to lose, too. Thi...

Re: Mirage Liberty/2nd Night/ Same Problems

Danny, try the medium pillows. You have nothing to lose. I recently had that problem and switched from the medium to the small. The leaks cut down greatly. Good luck to you. I haven't had a problem with the vents blowing air into my face. Are you sure that it's not some other part of the mask that's...

Re: Poll: Number of Sleep Hrs to Feel Good?

I found that it depends on which mask I'm wearing. Even though the data shows no noticeable difference, I have more pep with less sleep using the Optilife than with the Liberty.

It sounds like you are on to something. This past year I've noticed an unexplained marked decrease in ear wax for the first time in my life. I don't miss it one bit.

Re: POLL: What two symptoms lead you to have a PSG?

Having just had half of my thyroid removed, I felt extreme fatigue. I was certain I needed some thyroid meds. Tests came back normal and doc asked how I'm sleeping. She thought it was sleep apnea. Not being a snorer, I said, "I don't think..." She interrupted and said, "You'd be surprised how many p...
