Re: what is leak rate for Bipap?
Thanks All! Just goes to prove you can be a cpap user for years and STILL have questions about things that don't quite make sense and make you feel like a nubie all over again! In 2006 the first year using I was really good at looking at my data weekly and tweaking things. Especially since I didn't ...

what is leak rate for Bipap?
I have been a long time member and user but haven't been to the board for a very long time. I also haven't looked at my info on card reader for a long time either. I switched to Bipap two years ago, and I saved the leak rate info that one of the members posted years back for the different masks. Any...

any software compatible with Mac?
Hello Everyone, I haven't been on this forum in waaaaay too long! I recently had my PC crash and decided to buy a Mac instead after having many years of Windows problems.....anyhow just decided to get around to trying to download Encore Pro, when it hit me that it is not compatible with Mac. Does an...

Re: Can't get any rest!
my AHI has stayed anywhere from 0.8 to 2.1. From what I understand, that is well within the area called acceptable. That said, I'd like to vent my frustration with this whole process!!!!! I feel awful in the morning when I get out of bed! : Chris, although they say misery loves company, I guess me ...

(P.S. Dinosaurs rock your world and you know it.)
Just dinosaurs? No cavemen dragging little cavewomen on the fabric? hee hee. Seriously looks comfy.

Chuck, If you type in the word "Ambien" in this forum's search you will find many many experiences with it. I certainly don't mean to turn you off to the idea entirely. I actually have a friend who has taken the regular Ambien (not CR) for years. Also it seems there are other members that stopped an...

One word of note.... I want to state that I didn't write this post to bash sleeping meds. There are many, many people in the world (with and without sleep apnea) that have terrible chronic insomnia, whereas mine was temporary due to medicinal side effects. For these people sleeping meds are the only...

Thanks Jere for the comments! Snoredog, Yes I do think the dreaming is MUCH more vivid now with the melatonin. And you're right, its not really a bad thing either way if the dream is somewhat scary. On Ambien I did dream, but nothing like this. I had 60 PLM's in my last sleep study, but after I met ...

hard time stopping Ambien CR
A few members here have brought up using Melatonin to promote deeper sleep. At the start of the summer I had started taking a prescription and one of the nasty side effects was insomnia. I started taking Ambien CR to combat the side effects of insomnia (boy, insomnia is almost a curse worse than sle...

Curt, You mention trying other masks, but were they all nasal? any full face ones? I can't really offer great alternatives to full face masks as I have only ever tried two, the Ultra Mirage Full face and the Hybrid. Some people are dead set on not using full face, being too bulky or too much pressur...

OwlCreek, One thought I was pondering... what was your REM latency on your sleep study? Did you get into REM phase in an avg time ? 90 mins or under? If so maybe during these naps you are getting into REM quickly, and where most peoples' apnea is worse during these stages than the other sleep phases...

Roadwarrior, I do really like the UMFF mask. I have been taking a break from the Hybrid for about a month. Not that it doesn't work well or deliver good data on My Encore, but I have been having such a hard time improving my sleep stages and getting good deep sleep over the past year, that I was get...

Melissa,
This is a link to DSM's website with the different masks and leak values.
Glad to hear the Swift isn't hydrating your face every night like the other mask.

Re: Still tired
I always cringe when I read stories of those who are trying to recover on what should be maintenance sleep time, not recovery sleep time. Some may say they don't have any extra time to sleep more - I didn't either. Till it cost me a 10 year job which was my only source of income, my insurance, and ...
