Anyone Interested in Trading Back-up Masks?
I have a brand-new, never used Medium ComfortGel nasal mask, along with an extra brand new cushion, that I have as a back-up to my regular mask. I am interested intrading this ComfortGel mask and extra cushion for a brand new Ultra Mirage Full Face mask Medium Standard. The Ultra Mirage Full must al...

Re: My first post--what is best type of mask??
Welcome and good luck! I use the Mirage Activa LT nasal mask, which works great! It "floats" over the nose, so no pressure points on the nose or cheeks. I switched from the Comfort Gel and have been very glad that I did. I also have to tape my mouth shut, as I am a mouth-breather at night, but this ...

Re: FAA regs on cpap i nflight, new in 5_2009
I've used my BiPAP machine twice on international flights - once to Germany and once to Buenos Aires, both on United in business class. There is a power port at the seat (and I have an adaptor kit just in case). I placed the machine on my tray table on one flight, and on the window ledge on another....

Re: New here. A few questions. Air travel?
Welcome! When traveling by air, you will have to take out your XPAP machine at the TSA security check-point for them to do a hand-check. I always put my machine in a very large plastic bag, so that when it's out in one of those bins, it's still somewhat protected. Good TSA screeners will even just r...

Re: Mealatonin / w Ambien CR ?
I have taken melatonin for years, even before XPAP. I now take 6 mg a night before bed, and it usually works great. Don't take timed-release melatonin - that will give you the melatonin "hang-over" the next day. In addition to helping you sleep, it's good for your overall health. http://www.lef.org/...

Re: having some issue with mouth taping
I was also using the 3M Durapore surgical tape (from my local pharmacy), but started to experience "blow-outs" with that. I then switched to 3M Micropore surgical paper tape (also available at the pharmacy), and it works much better, but is stickier and thus pulls more when you pull it off, but it s...

Re: Mirage Activa LT-Can I use the Mirage Activa frame?
I think that it's just the opposite - the Activa LT uses the same nasal cushion as the Activa, but the two frames are different.

I average 9 hours 31 mins a night with the mask on....been on XPAP since July 08...have had only one night of non-compliance since I started (family emergency that night).

Re: Aerophagia - where to go from here?
I started out on a CPAP machine at a 12 setting, and like you experienced severe aerophagia...I went back to my sleep doc, and he changed me over to a BiPAP machine...initially I started out on the BiPAP at 12 and 8...it was better than the CPAP as far as swallowing air, but still pretty bad...I the...

Re: CPAP Induced Aerophagia Causes Elevated Blood Glucose Levels
Here is another point I forgot about that is in favor of my working hypothesis. All of my morning fasting BG levels are high prediabetic or low diabetic. My postprandial readings are often high normal, occassionally prediabetic and rarely diabetic. So the first morning readings are the real problem...

Mouth-taping!...you can use 3M Durapore tape (available at your local drug store) to seal your mouth at night...I do, as do many others.

Re: Another Sleep Study to get BiPAP
I went down the same path as you are...started with CPAP, too much air swallowing...told my sleep doc, and he just changed my script to BiPap for my DME...we sent my insurance a memo from my doc saying that my CPAP trial failed due to severe Aerophagia, and that was it...my DME swapped out the CPAP ...

Re: Need advice from guys with facial hair.
Hmmm. I'll add that to my list -- I have to wait another 3 months to ask for another - does the LT have sizes like the standard Activa?? Like large or standard?? Thanks for the suggestion!!! I do like the Activa!!! cheers goose Edit: Took a look at the resmed site for the Activa LT. Now. I gotta as...

Re: Need advice from guys with facial hair.
I have just received and tried an Activa mask (Resmed). I like it!!!! Won't replace my headrest, but it will probably displace the ComfortGel as my backup. I have the "standard" size and it fits pretty similar to the CG, though it may be a tad lower on the bridge of the nose. Again, it needs to be ...
