Re: Are you touchy about who touches your machine?

I often fly and TSA normally has me take it out like a laptop and then swabs it for explosives. They always seem very familiar with CPAP and handle it carefully. I do wipe the machine off with a CPAP wipe after each trip, it's not the hands, it's those bins that bothers me. At home I keep the machin...

Re: OT- Need Prayer for my Husband's Hip Replacement Surgery

Good wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery. My mom (age 68) has had a knee, a shoulder and a hip replacement, over the last few years. She had less pain and faster recovery from the hip replacement than the other operations. She was up and about fairly quickly. I do remember helping her struggle ...

Re: cpap.com poor customer service (funny!)

If it's not covered by insurance, I buy it through cpap.com. I have always experienced great service, great prices, great selection, everything is in stock, quick delivery right to my doorstep and no problems. Plus they sponsor this great forum. It's like the Nordstom's of cpap equipment!

Re: Any travel tips for driving trip?

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I also take a checklist of all the "pieces." I'm afraid I might leave something behind, like the cord. You have to take everything apart to pack it up. I've got the machine, humidifier, plug/cord, extension cord, hose, mask, headgear, Hose Boss, water bottle, pillow, log book...

Re: woke up trying to breathe through my finger!

After I stopped laughing I got to wondering - have you ever had episodes of sleep walking? I have the opposite problem to taking my mask off in my sleep - sometimes I wake up and forget to take my mask off. I use a Hose Buddy, which seems to have been made by the same folks who make nuclear bunkers....

Re: Sleep Alone???

It's me, my husband, and two dogs in the bed. Hubby says I'm fine to sleep with now that I don't snore. It took the dogs a night or two to get used to the mask and hose. Now they climb right up on my face if I don't let them out in the morning. Married 23 years. Dogs on bed 22 1/2 years. Can train t...

Pur-Sleep 5 ml refills free to good home - now closed

I recently acquired the set of Pur-Sleep essential oils in the 5 ml size. While I love the overall system, I only like some of the scents. So, I would like to pass on the ones I didn't like; Comfort, Paradise, Peace and Rosa. These four bottles were opened but not used and should still be full. I'm ...

FF Quattro Mirage size small free to good home - now closed

I have a ResMed Mirage Quattro full face mask and headgear that I am not able to use. It's a small size mask, but the headgear is a medium. My insurance company purchased it new from my local DME. I used it for one week/seven nights, but was not able to control the leaks. There doesn't appear to be ...

Re: a hose hangup question

I used CPAP with the hose under the covers for about 3 months and thought it was fine. Just started using a hose hanger (two weeks) and find it's more comfortable, I don't wake as fully to turn over and I have a lower leak rate.

Re: Discovered I can't sleep w/o cpap

Take it and tell everyone about it. In my pre-CPAP days, if someone brought a machine like that to a retreat, I'd be curious about it but would probably not ask any questions until that person brought it up. I had heard of sleep apnea, but thought it was just a problem for old men. Wish I knew then ...

Re: How did you explain cpap to your kiddos?

No kids, but the first night with CPAP my husband choked back a laugh and then said he didn't realize it would have a hose. After that first night he was happy because I don't snore anymore. Now, if I can just quit scaring the dogs!

Re: AHI Average

My sleep center study AHI was 67. My CPAP-treated AHI varies from 0.8 to 1.6. I'm a newbie (only been on CPAP for 2 months) but my understanding is that 5 or below is considered normal. I also read that some people need to be under 3 to feel good the next day. You've come to the right place for help.
