Re: New appreciation for mask liners
I use a Quattro also. I find that I can avoid leaks when I lie on my side, but when I sleep on my back I get leaks. It seems nuts to me, but while awake I can lie on my back and tug and contort my face all that I want, and I get no leaks. But the moment I doze off a leak will wake me up. But if I li...

Re: Sleep without Ambien!!
* Recognize there is a big difference between feeling sleepy and feeling tired or exhausted . And remember that it is difficult to fall asleep if you are NOT sleepy regardless of how tired or exhausted you are. His explanation of these differences was helpful to me. Learning to tell the difference ...

Re: Sleep without Ambien!!
Hi Alan You can read up on AFib and things that may help combat it at http://www.afibbers.net Most AFibbers are magnesium deficient, for starters. Keeping your oxygen saturation up during sleep is also important - not only for AFib but for your entire body. The AFibbers web site has lots of good inf...

Sleep without Ambien!!
I started therapy in June of 2009 and I struggled mightily with it. My doctor prescribed Ambien to help me sleep. Since then, I have continued to use Ambien to sleep; about 20 months total. This has always bothered me, but I simply would not sleep without it. My doc told me not to worry about it, th...

Re: BiPap for $200 on craigslist
I bought a backup machine through Craigslist. I need a BiPAP AutoSV, which costs $5800, even at CPAP.com. (It sells for $6995 at my local DME provider.) My insurance covered my first machine, but will never replace it. So I began to check various Craigslist sites and eventually I found one in Oregon...

Re: Pulse Ox Went Down To "59"!!!
Hello You can adapt to wearing your mask. It will not happen over-night, but it will happen if you stick with it. When a problem frustrates you (leaky mask, uncomfortable fit, etc.) identify the problem as specifically as you can, one at a time. Then come here and search the forum and ask questions ...

Re: Why Resmed Quattro FF masks are superior to chin straps
Why not? I am not aware of any recommendation or evidence that indicates you must use a mask and machine built by the same manufacturer. Your same-maker theory may be keeping you from a mask that works.Guest wrote:I dont want to use a non Resmed mask with a Resmed APAP.

Re: Mirage Quattro Question
Sometimes on my Quattro, the plug that covers the supplementary oxygen plug-in (I don't know the official name for it) comes out. It's a rectangular plug just underneath the swivel, covering 2 different oxygen inlets. You might check that. I've had mine somehow come out in the middle of the night an...

Re: Do-It-Yourself Mask Liners - Can they be made durable?
What exactly does the mask liner do? Does it silence leaks, protect the nose-bridge, etc?
Thanks,
Tony

Re: Do you take your machine to doctor's appointments?
No, I don't. I take my data card, but at my last 2 appointments (covering 11 months) I was told "our computer that reads these is down so we don't need your card." I had taken my own printouts in, with specific that I had questions about highlighted. Both times they wanted my Summary page with the a...

Re: FINALLY!!!
If I need to get up in the middle of the night, I disconnect the hose from the machine, leaving the mask on my face. I just wrap the hose around my neck and take care of my business. It is too much work to put the mask on and I don't need the extra exertion to wake me up more than I already am, whic...

Re: APNEA vs ATRIAL FIBRILLATION! INTERESTING?
I know that I will be "paddled" at the beginning of February and my chances of being "convrted" are about 63 - 69% becase of what I am learning and because my cardiologist appears to know of what he doth. The next choice is a surgical procedure. Before that I am going to try and get my chances of h...

Throughout all of this, my blood levels of magnesium have been within the normal range, but I haven't been able to find a laboratory that is capable of testing cellular levels of magnesium, so that testing hasn't been done. You might want to log-in at http://www.afibbers.net/forum/list.php?f=9 and ...

Re: APNEA vs ATRIAL FIBRILLATION! INTERESTING?
So it is possible to have arrhythmias you aren't aware of and ECGs can't necessarily pick them up, at least not if you are not having them at the time the ECG is run. That is the key. If you are in AFib while getting the ECG, it is an easy thing for the doctor to spot. If you had one earlier and co...

Re: APNEA vs ATRIAL FIBRILLATION! INTERESTING?
Mentioned it to my GP, he did an ECG just 'off the cuff' to have a quick look and said it seemed okay... but sent it along to my other doctors including my cardiologist, who had me in for an echocardiogram the next day. It was hard to spot but they were thorough and lo ad behold, Atrial Fibrillatio...
