Re: Can I Get a Mini Lesson From the Experts Here?
Sounds to me like your physician is going to put you on something like the Quantum PSV by Respironics. We used to use those machines alot a while back. I personally have not used since the advent of the Bipap S/T type machines. If my memory serves me correctly this machine should take care of the pr...

Re: Information, PLEASE
At this point if your DME does not want to exchange your machine and your not willing to go out of pocket to purchase one online, the only way you could get a new machine would be to have your physician write a prescription for a fully data capable machine. Medicare may want or require a new sleep s...

Re: Who is using the Bipap Auto SV and what are your thoughts?
Everything that was said above is correct but... Most insurances will require the diagnosis of Mixed or Complex sleep apnea and the sleep study that proves it before considering to pay for it. MSRP of the machine is 5500.00. There are online vendors who sell it cheaper, but not a lot. Although unive...

Re: APAP, should you hit you max range
Its fairly commom to place your high end or max pressure approx 2-3 cms above what your 90% pressure was. Its really not a problem to have the max pressure a little high because you'll never reach it if you don't require it.

Re: Who is using the Bipap Auto SV and what are your thoughts?
I believe your thinking of something different. The Bipap Auto SV is used mainly for people with mixed or complex sleep apnea. Its a very expensive machine compared to Bipaps and Cpaps.

Re: Mask beeping at me?!
if you set the mask alert to on then if you develope a leak which the machine can not compensate for then you'll get an alarm. If your mask becomes disconnected from the machine it will alarm as well. I don't think you can disable that alarm. I'm doing this from memory I could be wrong, I deal with ...

Re: Problems with Inhale Pressure, Continued
To have the problem with two machines and with two masks seems to me to indicate something is amiss in the settings. First of all these machines have diagnostic features, I can imagine one failing but two, I don't think so. Same with the mask, I've set many many bipaps on patients with F&P 431 FFM a...

Re: Mask beeping at me?!
I believe what your describing is the mask alert function of the machine. This is different than a leak alert. Machine will beep at you if it thinks the mask has been disconnected from the patient. I believe you can find this on page 11 of your user manual

Re: The shape of things to come (I hope not!)
The height of the machine is only to keep water from running back into your mask. All machines should be placed at the level of your mattress or lower.

Re: Oxygen Concentrator
Respironics actually has the valve and o2 entrainment piece. They work fine. But it still doesn't change the procedure for turning on and off, it just doesn't allow O2 to creep into the CPAP machine.

Re: Oxygen Concentrator
You should always keep your concentrator at least 10 feet away from an open flame. That would include your tubing as well when the concentrator is on. Gas stoves should be no problem if the patient is instructed well. The reason you put your oxygen on when using cpap is so precise is to avoid a rush...

Re: Sleep doc says APAP not medically necessary
I believe everyone should have a cadillac, it has all the options, its built safer but it costs more. As with everything else in life there are choices, It is hoped that you have a good sleep doc or DME and they together with you make a good choice. Apaps are not necessary for everyone but a fully d...

Re: Medicare and Non Compliance
under medicare you have 90 days to become compliant. Within that 90 days you must show 30days with machine being used more than 4 hours 70 % of the time. Your DME can opt to continue trying to get you compliant after the initial 90 days but they won't be paid until you become compliant.

Re: 26-year Old Man Dies During Sleep Study
None of us know the circumstances of this young mans death. There is no disagreement that it is tragic. To speculate on how or why or if anything could have been done is on its face is just a guess. This could of been some as simple as a esopageal varices that ruptured, if it was it would not matter...
