Re: Quattro Mask: Anyone else having seal problems (brand new se

Just wanted to add that my joy with a brand new strap just didn't last. In the end I solved the problem of leaks (almost completely gone now) after Karen from pad-a-cheek sent me a leak-proof strap to try with my Quattro F/F mask (it also applies to the Ultra Mirage F/F mask). see http://www.cpapta...

This treatment will remove the minerals. Have you tested your water for biological organisms or organic (hydrocarbon) contaminants?

Re: Quattro Mask: Anyone else having seal problems (brand new se

I have switched back and forth between ResMed's Quatro and Ultra Mirage masks. My current preference is a Small Shallow UMFF. Smaller seems to be better at high pressures. Also,I use the PAPcap chin strap to keep my mouth closed and my cheeks from puffing out. I use the REMZzzs cloth mask liners to ...

Re: HELP! Minvent Alarm keeps going off

The questions raised here prompted me to do a little research. This information is abstracted from several Wikipedia articles and other technical articles found using Google. Minvent (minute ventalation) is the total amount of air exchanged by the lungs during a one minute period. The tidal air volu...

Re: Philips Respironics Launches BiPAP autoSV Advanced Sleep Sys

I studied you links. Thanks for the help. As far as I can determine, the Respironics bipap autoSV advanced is not particularly affected by substantial leaks. The threshold for reporting large leaks as such seems to be about 70 liters per min. Typically my large leak numbers range between 55 and 65 l...

Re: Philips Respironics Launches BiPAP autoSV Advanced Sleep Sys

Aaron DSM PS Aaron, leaks with ASVs are a big issue that easily messes up the effects of the therapy & likely to produce all sorts of odd side effects. Getting the leak to bare minimum is essential whatever it takes - D Would you flesh out this last point. How much leak is troublsome. What side eff...

Re: Philips Respironics Launches BiPAP autoSV Advanced Sleep Sys

nghy, Am pleased the therapy has settled down & that the SV is doing its stuff for you. That Epap is a high one & if the machine rarely or never raises Epap from EpapMin, I agree it is worth suggesting to doc to take EpapMin (& perhaps EpapMax) down by 1 CMs each (that spread of 2 between EpapMin a...

Re: Humidifier Water Poll

I think the issues are cost and the trouble to obtain distilled water. I think distilled water is the right product for the xPAP humidifiers. However, bolling water and then condensing the steam takes a lot of energy. That being the case, other purification methods permit greater profits for the sup...

Re: Humidifier Water Poll

DSM, I've read a few posts where folks are just using tap water so I was wondering if you could comment on any real health risks involved. I only use distilled water but don't know why other than keeping the tank looking clean. DoriC I used tap water for about 2.5 years before finally deciding to s...

Re: Philips Respironics Launches BiPAP autoSV Advanced Sleep Sys

Hi All, I'm at that piont where I need to consider replacing some parts for the PAP sysrem. Which parts need regular replacement (other than filters) and at what schedule? Also I have several masks that I tried during my original sleep studies. These were used for a few hours at most. It seems a sha...

Re: Humidifier Water Poll

I have used nothing but distilled water since I started sleeping with my biPAP device. Shortly, I realized that I would be needing a continuing supply. I found a reconditioned home water distiller on eBay for $55 including shipping. When I checked just now on eBay I found the same product from the s...

Re: High Pressure Woes

Hi, I have a BiPAP autoSV Advanced with the EPAP floating between 14 and 18, and the Pressure Suport floating betwee 4 and 8. The SV advanced can titrate each breath so that is why the settings are allowed to float. I was never able to tolerate the nasal pillows. I've found that the ResMed full face...
